An LFer and a Marada thug die cause of a poster, next thing you know is Hariri & Hezbollah agree to remove all posters from Beirut … why dont Geagea & Frangieh do the same ??

Whats the point of posters in the first place ? Why would Hakim want his supporters to stick his pictures on the street ?? I mean seriously ..

I understand putting pics of Bashir or Kamal Jumblatt or Rafik Hariri or any martyr or founder of a certain party, but i’ve had enough of that tribal mentality our people have ..

Do you see anyone in the states hanging George Bush’s picture on the streets ? or Tony Blair ? or Angela Merkel ??

Do we really wanna end up like Palestinians who are too busy preparing wallpapers for their martyrs and killing each others for a space on the wall while the Israelis are enjoying whats happening ??

Is that too much to ask ?
Even though i think Frangieh is a low-life uneducated thug, but he did make a point even if he did not mean it ( he definitly didnt) ..
li bi7ebbo la Samir Geagea yi3alle2lo Sourto bil beit .. same for Frangieh, same for Aoun same for every politician …

I think it’s time we introduce Lebanese people to bumper stickers and save ourselves more trouble :) .

good point, if u like ur politicians hang their picture in you house. that would be nice to see

  • 4. Mickel | September 27th, 2008 at 5:23 am

I’m totally against hanging pictures of your leaders in your house whomever they may be. We should put pictures of saints and of our family in our house.

I hate when I got in people’s houses and they have a picture of Aoun there, and they’re all proud of it like it’s something of importance.

    LOL Mickel so true,

We know this guy that has this massive picture of Aoun with the orange shawl around it, and the problem is he has it facing the front door so as soon as you come in you spot it.

A great step if it is actually implemented. I hate driving from the airport, and seeing those ridiculous posters and you continue to see them throughout the country.

In a civilized country, a statue or a memorial is enough even for a martyr.
The problem is the posters that will spring up the closer we get to the next elections (if it happens)

  • 7. Fred | September 27th, 2008 at 9:06 am

    N,
wallah sometimes you confuse me. you seem to be an educated mature person when understanding the meaning of your post but you look the opposite when we see the language you use.
Here you criticize and condemn the tribal mentality and to do so you use terms like the below to describe the other party (also a lebanese, christian, who was doing the same thing from his side):
“An LFer and a Marada thug” and “i think Frangieh is a low-life uneducated thug”

  • 8. Rami | September 27th, 2008 at 9:30 am

    Fred,
N is actually speaking about FACTS. you cant deny the fact that they are THUGS.

if u like ur politicians hang their picture in your house, STOP POLLUTING THE STREETS!!!

The posters were an invitation to the Martyrs’ mass & not for Samir Geagea.

  • 11. Fuziyad | September 27th, 2008 at 12:59 pm

eja ja3far!!! I want your opinion on the blast in syria today. To me there is 5 possibilities. It’s one more delivery of the baas to the israelies (some hizbo link killed), It’s a message from iran/hizb to syria :don’t fuck too much with us. It’s a completely fabricated story to blame salafis and justify a syrian entry to north lebanon. A message from the saudis through salafis to tell the syrians stop messing with us or it’s a message from the mossad to the syrians telling them stop fooling us.

    chou ra2yak??

Because Nasrallah is not fighting Saad over Ras beirut Sunna Muslims and Saad is not fighting Nasrallah over Dahyieh leadership.

Geagea and Franjieh are feudal lords who are fighitng over the north leadership as well as a christian one.

More important they have no vision on how to keep teh christians secure in this region.

It is “ME” and only “ME” mentality

  • 13. ja3far | September 27th, 2008 at 5:07 pm

fuziad… it seems syria is becoming more and more volunarable and open to different inteligneces…or do you , again, blame the syrian intellignece to the israeli air raide september last year?;) ..

Fuziad I guess the possibility no 2 is more plausible to me…especially that Jaafar kept telling us about surprises!!!!!!!!!!

  • 19. dj | September 29th, 2008 at 3:11 am

I hope Dr Geagea will work soon on the institutionalization of the Lebanese Forces. Alla ye7mi, bas can you imagine what happens to this party if god forbidden something happens to Dr Geagea?? Or can you imagine what will happen if only some few people with or without competence control the resources of the party after it grows again?? I honestly do not have enough information about this subject but I have great fears of doing the same mistakes again even though I am noticing Dr Geagea is trying to choose better his team members but also the people he supports politically like the Minister of Justice for example. I know the Man has a lot to do, but will reform be ever done if it is not done in the near future. If somebody smart like Hakim does not do it, who will?
How can we trust a party where most of his partisan do not see but one person good in it: his leader? I know we are better than aounistes, but I know we are still not good enough, not good as much as we can be.

  • 20. dj | September 29th, 2008 at 3:23 am

I appreciate what ja3far said in 9 which is true about most of the Lebanese politicians and parties: aounistes and aoun, amal and berri, psp and jounblat, marada and franjieh, hezbolla and nasrallah (except that for hezbolla, Iran always prepares the successor itself and ahead of time so the party stays safe and stable), etc

I also agree with Danny in 10.
