Sabra & Chattila massacres ..

Today happens to be the 25th memory as well for the Sabra & Chattila massacres, that were performed by Israeli soldiers as well as so-called Lebanese Forces militants that acted on their own and by orders of Elie Hobeika. That act was IN NO WAY a revenge for Sheikh Bashir’s assassination, such talk is pure cheap propaganda that should be corrected and cleared once and for all …

I condemn those acts but in the same time, they should be labeled as they truly are and not seen as LFers who massacred “poor” Palestinians avenging their leader’s assasination.

What happened @ Sabra & Chatilla ??

I will skip the details and get straight to the point, Elie Hobeika had his private group of intelligence within the LF and it included several group of people that were not truly LFers but loyal to HK and prepared for specific missions. Those were asked to assist the Israelis in clearing a refugee camp and moving its occupants to another spot.

However as it is a Palestinian camp, and it is usually filled with armed men and since those men sent were cold-blooded and instinctfull, they started killing anyone they felt was a threat and even killed innocent people on their way. Such procedures had happened in previous camp assaults ( mainly Tal El Zaatar) and many other camps that Amal stormed along with Syrians.

Why was Sabra massacre so mediatized ?? Simply because Israel wanted to weaken Sharon ( Begin mainly), and this act harmed him massively, but also reached the reputation of the Lebanese Forces who were accused of being butchers.

I find it ironic that people dont mention Tal El Zaatar and only talk about Sabra when it is known that Tal el Zaatar assault was a pure massacre back then, and Sabra is nothing compared to it .

Finally, as for apologizing to the Palestinians, i refuse that such an apology be presented before the Palestinian authority officially apologizes for all the massacres it committed in Lebanon.

    Very simple: cuz the JOOOOZ were in the neighborhood.

    When the killing is arab/arab leb/leb, pali/pali leb/pali pali/leb, syr/Leb Syr/syr no one gives a shit. Not the Arabs and not their idiot leftist demonstrating friends in the West.

    Heard much about Sunnis blowing up Shia or Kurds in Iraq (other than to blame the US)?

    Heard about Algerians blowing up other Algerians the last couple of weeks?

    Josey wales,excellent post. Truth is, I have never before read or heard this version. As far as I know,all the killing was done by the Christians,with Israel looking the other way. As I was in Israel at the time, I would have known of any Israeli casualties. It is a small country,we all know everything when it comes to casualties.

    Sonia, where will the casualties come from? those who were butchered were women and children, you were in Israel but I was in Beirut and the Israeli army had the camp illuminated all night while the killing was happening inside. The camp was surrounded by the IDF and Elie Hobeika was executing Sharon’s orders while we were mourning the assassination of Bashir.

    It’s NOT the christians who did the killings, it was HK, and he represented a fraction of the christians.

    Second, as tareq mentioned, the IDF was launching flares all night and shelling the camp with its tanks.

    Third, the camp was in west Beirut, which was surrounded by the IDF, so how did Hobeika’s men enter without Israeli knowledge and approval.

    What happened was that the IDF had a few guys in the camp that it wanted to get rid of, they went in with HK providing transportation for his men.
    Their starting point was the international airport.
    They went in, the Israelis got the guys they wanted and the rest is history.

    And the best illustration of your point that nobody cares what the Arabs do to themselves, is that Hobeika became a respected member of the Lebanese government and served as a minister for many years.

    Lebanese War was full of blood and devils activities.

    If they want to open any massacre which as christians we condemn , we have to memorize all massacres that happened between 1975 till end of 1990 .

    We cannot be picky in these things. Human is a human everywhere, anyplace.

    No one is denying some responsibility for what happened there. It has been clearly documented. The point I was making is simply that if the Israeli army was in the camp there would have been casualties but there were no casualties among the israeli soldiers. Israeli soldiers did not physically kill women and children. That flares were lit..etc..is unfortunately true.

    some of my friends where there and they told me how they met people who didnt know how to speak arabic only hebrew in the tunnels there. I will do and prove to u that israeli’s were in fact there.

    all of the crimes commited from both sides, either christians or muslims, where the results of israeli-syrian manipulation. we are sick and tired of cold wars in our country, we don’t need neighbours, i wish lebanon was an island. no israel and no syria fighting their war on our land and acheiveing another of their common intersts, which is, destroying the number one touristic and econominc threat to them, LEBANON!

    Sonia if ur trying to blame all the christian lebanese for massacrating the palestinian that UR goverment kick out of isreal out of palestine out of their homes on us i have one question for u what were u doing in bey at that time ?
