ya LF:D maybe you r right that the M14 laffo danabon, but does this make hizballa a winner? sure not,M14 dragged HA to where he never wanted to be which is carrying weapons in beyrouth and shooting in its’ streets and they were sure that by the end he will be the one who will yliff his danab .

    Elie.F,

you got it right … that was the whole game, it was to drag H.A to become a militia and to prove them wrong, that there weapon is not only for resistance, it is for terrorising and enforcing decisions …

no elie and johnny u didnt get it right….since 7ariri wants to make the conflict secetarian through mufti qabbani and drag HA and all the shi3a to this situation in order to get the sunna in a situation where all the media spotlights r on them to see the chaos and death they r going through…and this fact will call for a sunni jihad and get sunna from all over the world to come to lebanon…and not any sunna…sunna with the little bombs on their jackets…and i assure u that will bring the end of HA cuz HA doesnt have suicide bombers(hayda msh stylon :P ) i hope i have proven my point
    cheers to lebanon

For all of you who are talking about the collapse of Aoun’s popularity. You are wrong. People love being on the winning team. HA wiped Sunnis out of their own West Beirut in a day.The normal Christian will think walla Aoun got it right this time and chose to be with the winning team, regardless of the rightfullness of the cause, and will thank him for the MOU that made him feel safe next to Shia in Remmaneh and Hadath.Besides, what protection the Saudis, the French and the US destroyers are providing their Sunni allies in Beirut?
Yes, you may say this is dhimmitude, but put yoursel in the shoes of Normal Elie who simply wants to live in peace!

  • 8. anonymous | May 9th, 2008 at 1:19 am

Nasrallah once again shows how he is a humble and gracious man.

He could storm the government offices and overthrow Siniora in a heartbeat. Siniora has no support from anyone, and especially not the military.

If Siniora was in Nasrallah’s shoes he would certainly not be as nice.

    Its not about whos winning!!!
Because in the end all lebanese people are loosing lebanon is a big hole and its getting deeper and deeper in the hole.

Hizbollah acts these 2 days showed the world a bad image of lebanon hizbollah acts are no civilized in an orderlly manor and the biggest threat is that maybe the army will be divided and that will lead into a civil war where christians will be stuck in the middle and will be forced to act in the same way WE DO NOT WANT THIS.

Lebanon has lost lots of money in the past years and lost lots of money these 2 days because of the airport closing down me personally im stuck in england for god knows how long and i have all my stuff in lebanon which i need to take care of but no way of getting to lebanon.

Lots of people not even in lebanon have no place to GO no houses and its costing people lots of money every day to put on hotel and food etc…
Thats for the people who dont know anyone .

And for the people who ment to go to lebanon today MEA is paying there stay for the hotel that is just to show how much money MEA is loosing in these 2 days.

By loocking at other countries POOR countries who came out of war its people help the goverment to get more money and ask for less wages so the goverment will stand up on its feet again and all we LEBANESE are a doing breaking lebanons legs. and saying nafdika ya nasralla why is this guy being treated like some sort of saint i ask.

And dont forget hizbollah has bin training over 20 years to fight a country Isreal while FM are NOT TRAINED AND NOT EQUIPED LIKE HIZBOLLAH AND NOT EQUIPED AND HAD READY AMMUNITION.

While this is oging on trained versus the untrained the untrained FM have bin standing there ground for a good while because only people who are protecting there neighbourhoods there town are people from that town so BRAVO for the FM

  • 12. Ra'fat | May 9th, 2008 at 5:02 am

Right or wrong, HA proved that no one in Lebanon can tell them what to do and no one can stop them, period. There is no Lebanon, never was, and after this, I believe there never will be. Lebanon is a vision that we as Christians have created, tried to maintain, but ultimately lost. Now we don’t even have the numbers to claim that we are a majority. HA proved that they can probably take over Lebanon in a day if they wanted to, and yeah kill el abadayet will be talking about defending the Christian areas. I am sure they will, as they all are ready to die to protect our homes and families. And if it does happen, sadly they will die, just drive to the nearest village and walk the graveyards, they are full with our martyrs. We are no more stronger than they were as individuals, and we definitely are a much weaker organization in training and numbers today then we were 20 years ago. This is a tough reality check for all of us, but nonetheless, no one can argue facts. We are much weaker than HA, our only hope is a government that can do nothing. This whole incident is but an affirmation that Lebanon is but a figment of our imagination, and we better wake up…

I don’t support the Lebanese forces and I differ politically from their agenda. But one thing I have to say, after Samir Geagea got out of prison, the Lebanese forces has proven to have matured a lot since the civil war days in their thinking and dealing with the current affairs.

I am totally against anyone who criticizes LF or Geagea on the basis of what happened before 1990 for 2 reasons: Geagea paid his dues although he shouldn’t have and although wrongly accused and the second reason is that everyone did what LF did, including Hezbollah and Aoun. (Aoun used the Lebanese army as his private militia).

The scary part about what is happening now is that opposition newspapers and websites are hailing this as a victory for Hezbollah. I thought they “promised us” that their arms won’t be used internally. Never mind that!

What is this victory they are happy about? Since when killing other Lebanese and occupying neighborhoods is victory? Unless they are thinking in the civil war logic, a logic that they have accused LF with.
The other scary part is that Aoun supported this.

I have written once a year ago is that Palestinians are not the threat. They have no funding, no organized unity, they are isolated, no regional or international support. No one wants them. They only thing that might come out of them are fundamentalist groups, but these only existed in defined locations and cannot spread (Nahr el bared and Ain el Helwi).

The real threat is Hezbollah: limitless funding, institutions, geographical spread, alien agenda, popular support, regional support, state-like structure, army-like equipment, infiltration in governmental bodies…

I don’t want to be pessimistic, but LF is next. Any excuse will do to launch a full attack. It might not come from Hezbollah, but from other pseudo Christian factions. If the Sunnis did not get Arab help, where will the Christians find it? Europe? I doubt that. At best, Europe will request “Lebanese to solve their differences peacefully”. I am not sure about the US as well.

Hezbollah’s excuse this time was an army officer and telephone network. Next time it might be anything. This time the pretext was a “laborers strike” next time it might be a faulty accusation by Aoun.

Don’t be happy that this is a Sunni – Shiite clash. It is not. This is just phase 2. (phase 1 was the occupation of downtown and demarcation of battle front lines).

I thought before that Hezbollah can’t afford a direct Shiite- Sunni confrontation. I was wrong.

What will happen next is that for the second time in recent history, the Christians will find themselves on the front line. But this time they are confronting Lebanese. This time they are up against two regional countries, one of them is an aspiring super power with infinite petro-dollars. This time they have no one to turn to. And this time, they are divided.

What has happened today is part of a pre-prepared plan. They attacked future tv, newspapers, etc.. this is not a reaction to any governmental decision. Just a pretext.
I hope that this will generate some discussion, other than the usual slogans. The plans for hezbollah’s phase 3 are being drafted now.

why are you happy? hariri is done? are you cheering that hezbollah won?

this is not a sunni shiite confrontation in the big picture. in phase 2 , it is. it is hezbolah versus those who oppose him politically.

what has future tv & newspaper got to do with the government decision?

now the seaport is going to be blocked!

don’t cheer if hariri or sunnis lost.

well, i was thought what i said above could generate some discussion other than macho slogans.

christians do not live in a island. they live in a part of a country called lebanon. what is happening is bound to affect everyone. even during the civil war, divided areas were affected by any incident.

just read these discussions above! “we kicked your asses”, “you just true to come to our neighborhoods and we’ll show you”. what is this gentlemen? this is not a joke, any stray bullet can hit any of us.

Hizbollah via Amal (Amal acting as the internal affairs sherif for the Hizib) have used their weapons on other lebanese. The disaster is that the other lebanese differed politically with them. nothing more nothing less.

M14 and the government being CIA or Mosaad is untrue. just a pretext.

what will christians do now? will they wait for an attack on their neighborhoods so they can grab the gun?

    anyone?

    LF :D ,

there is nothing to be happy about. this is a sad sad day.

tell me, what will prevent hezbollah now from a direct or indirect assault on the christians who oppose their dominance? if the arab world did nothing to prevent what happened to the FM, then will it do anything for the christians. especially that Aoun will always say that he is the christian majority. the world will not look at the changed public opinion to know that he is lying.

hezbollah can use any excuse now to directly or indirectly confront anyone.

the FPM will cheer if hezbollah attacked LF, just like what you are doing now.

you’d think that coz aounist are christians, they will not allow this. since when did aounists made any sense?

abi nasr said today that he sees it as a good thing that the army is taking charge of areas in beirut after they are dominanted by hezbollah. he failed to see that hezbollah are actually occupying areas! that is the aounist logic for you.

and lets not discuss michel aoun’s interpretation for things.

this is a sad sad day

  • 33. Patrick | May 9th, 2008 at 2:58 pm

Why are you guys losing faith? M8/Hezbollah has not won! Al-Mustaqbal and PSP are just being smart and patient.

Anyway, for now, watch out for stray bullets. Stock up on food, water and ice. Lock and barricade your doors and windows. Stay inside. Stay away from the walls, and don’t sit by the windows, however tempting that might be. And don’t make yourselves targets by displaying party flags. If HA reaches your area, don’t be stupid. Don’t engage them. Notify the Army and the heads of ouwet/kataeb/mustaqbal in your area. If you can get hold of additional ammunition, do it. Do not provoke engagement with HA.

IFFFFFFFFf we do end up engaging HA (something that should only happen with the orders of hakim and your officers!), remember: nonstop automatic fire is a waste of ammunition and time, since accuracy decreases with time when using automatic fire. Fire in spurts, AIM, stay away from walls (if you’re close to the walls and they get hit by an RPG, you’re done), don’t bunch up together, don’t stay in the same spot too long when moving from one location to another. Higher ground is good. Just don’t put yourself in a place where you can’t leave if your area gets overrun. Keep your head low, make sure some people are watching the rooftops and the open windows at all times. Watch your backs. Keep your heads together, designate leaders and follow them. When they say shut up and be quiet, it means shut up and be quiet. Watch where you’re firing. Friendly fire can cause just as many casualties as enemy fire. When clearing rooms, wait for the grenade to explode before entering!! And for God’s sake, don’t bother defending the party offices. It’s an easy target and if we allow HA to define the zone of conflict, we’ll lose. Don’t man checkpoints the way HA does. Stay out of sight and ambush. If you don’t have a gun, borrow one. If you can’t borrow one, grab a baseball bat or a knife. And if you don’t have a knife, don’t be ashamed to use a kitchen knife. War is war. Tell your kid brothers to stay home and defend the family if anyone enters the house. They don’t need to be running around on the street trying to be the hero.

But please, FOR NOW, STAY INSIDE AND DON’T ENGAGE.

Just wait for orders from Hakim and from your local ouwet officers.

no one is losing faith. well, i hope no one is.
but it is upsetting that some are dealing with what is happening as if it was in myanmar!

another annoying thing, is that since these clashes started, the aounist kept spreading rumors that lebanese forces are engaged in the fighting.

guys, ouwet has emergency plans in case of open war. for weapons, for ammunition, for training, for securing and re-securing our areas, etc. we can put a rifle and ammunition in the hands of every LFer in one day.

and don’t think that we’re leaving mustaqbal alone. 7ariri and jumblatt are WITH US in thinking its best to keep ouwet out of the direct confrontation (for now, anyway). PSP hasn’t even joined in much of the fighting. all calls for ouwet to join the fighting just fall on deaf ears when PSP hasn’t even joined yet! we have a phased plan guys, chill out.

still, we are providing intelligence and in some cases helping secure areas while they are in the front, and also arranging for additional rifles and ammunition.

our leadership is safe and doing a wonderful job, praise god. relax. just stay inside, don’t engage, don’t provoke an engagement, and wait for orders.

godwilling, the plan to pit HA against the army will succeed, and mustaqbal can back off, and psp/ouwet/etc. will never have to join the fight. the u.s. will provide equipment and weapons and ammunition to the army. and stop worrying about a split. the army is not going to split.

HA made the biggest mistake ever in declaring the army the enemy and using their weapons on fellow lebanese on the streets of beirut!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

things might not look good now, but trust the leadership. this is the end of HA.

don’t be jealous just because my english is flawless. if hakim gives the order and my officer asks me to join him in the north, you’ll see first hand how lebanon and ouwet are in my heart forever.

    everyone else –

take care for now, i have to take care of a few things before my brother arrives from out of town. stay calm, and follow hakim. there is a reason we call him hakim!!

hezbollah *did* declare the army the enemy. what’s the difference between saying “the army is the enemy” and what nasrallah said specifically: “today, the army has taken the side of the enemy”??

and the army is holding the important positions and will expand the territory under their control soon. they are being wise in their operations.

you mention that 70% of the army is shi3a, but i’m not sure why you are raising sectarian statistics. the army is the army. they are loyal to the state. we in march 14 believe in the state and its obligations. if there are some 8 march leaders who are threatened and they do not have any HA thugs to protect them, we would expect the army to protect them. so why is the army considered “taking sides” if they protect 14 march leaders? LA soldiers know their duty. they have no problem to implement the decisions of the state and to follow the orders of their officers.

you’re trying really hard to provoke me just as your friends are trying really hard to provoke us on the street, but keep trying, because we’re smarter than you, and we’re going to keep calm, and keep our reaction minimal. i refuse to respond to anything about my head or about being jews or about american withdrawal or anything else that just shows how simple your mind works.

the more you fire at us, the more you use your weapons against fellow lebanese, and the more we keep off the streets, the more all of lebanon, all the arab countries, all the world realizes how uncivilized and dangerous hezbollah is and how necessary it is to disarm them.

don’t forget what jesus said. “everyone who lives by the sword will die by the sword.” if HA was smart, it would stop its attacks on lebanese and its occupation of beirut. but thank god they’re stupid, because this is the beginning of their end.

you think it’s impossible to disarm HA, just as HA used to think it was impossible to force syria to withdraw. but when the whole world stands together, by god anything is possible.

this will be my last comment til tonight (EST).

i have to differ with you patrick about one thing: i don’t think christians should think or depend on armed confrontation.

true, if bullets came flying over the roof tops then that is something else. but, you have to agree with me, this is not what christians or druze or muslims should act.

no one should aspire to reach the point of no return. hezbollah chose war. i think only the regional and international reaction will determine if hezbollah lost or not.

    LF :D ,

you want michel aoun a president. it is your full right ofcourse. let there be elections in the parliment then.

but don’t make fun of the clashes that happened over the last couple of days. civilians died and houses burned. i hope it never happens to anyone reading this, but will you be sarcastic if this happens to you?

seriously, without any disrespect, how old are you? have you been around the civil war? i have. trust me, it is not something to be happy about.

how can you even be remotely happy about what happened???????? if you don’t like FM or LF, does that make up an excuse for accepting this in beirut? hezbollah literally invaded beirut.

i don’t know if i can get through, but then again, like Imam Ali said “ma jadaltou jahilan illa wa ghalabani”

Nawarra, take him to Egypt if you love him so much, let him make wars and destroy your country and then celebrate with him the holy victory. We don’t want him destroying our country so you can be happy.

Do you know why we are arguing now?

  • 80. نوارة | May 10th, 2008 at 11:21 pm

  • 81. نوارة | May 10th, 2008 at 11:29 pm

  • 82. kezballah | May 11th, 2008 at 3:35 am

Nawarra, if Hariri Geagea Jumblatt had militias they will have resisted, only civilian people who have some light arms in their house tried to resist, there is no militias other than Hezbollah. And they did not liberate Lebanon alone because the people helped them and supported them, now Israel is out so they should join the army and stop having a militia.

My name kezballah is not to say that Allah lies, it is to say Hezbollah lies, they say they will only use their arms against Israel but since last year they occupy Beirut and now they kill the Lebanese people from other religions!

When Nasrallah say Ashraf Nas he is only talking to his followers not to all Lebanese. He calls the other Lebanese like me traitors. Nasrallah does not own Lebanon, we all fought to free our country from Syria and Israel before Nasrallah was born!

Don’t wish to have Nasrallah it will be worse nightmare than what you have now. All he wants to do is war and spread Iran influence.
