I was honestly surprised to see the name of Eddie Abi Lamaa among the 14th of March committee that met with the Jamaa Islamiyya yesterday, especially after the list of points they agreed on.

In fact, as mentioned in Annahar today, Walid Eido, Wael Bou Faour, Atef Majdalani, Eddie Abi Lama3 and Antoine Haddad visited Sheikh Fayssal el Moulouwwi, secretary general of Al Jamaa in order to strengthen the bonds between the 14th of March and the Jamaa but did not sign an agreement paper as expected.

However, I expected at least the LF representative to give a statement explaining our differences with the Jamaa and show the disagreement with the several points they raised, mainly the ones concerning Hezbollah. We cannot attend such important meetings and be passive especially with an ideological group such as Jamaa that has Islamic plans for the Sunna in Lebanon.

I had the opportunity to meet with the Jamaa few years ago, and read their manifesto and their idea of co-existence in Lebanon was based on unbalanced powers between Christians and Muslims, where as they pointed out indirectly that Christians have to accept the fact that they should be governed by Muslims, and here i find the same statement in the article :

وأكد المولوي “قضية مبدئية تحكم سلوك الجماعة السياسي، وهو المنطلق العقائدي والاحكام الشرعية”، معتبراً ان اقتناع الجماعة بالعيش المشترك في لبنان قضية عقائدية اساسية”

Added to that, The Moulouwi insists on having the best of relations with Syria and that Lebanon has no choice but to be in good relations with Syria, and be against Israel?!? What is the difference between Israel and Syria? I consider and the LF considers Syrians as our fiercest enemies and the harm Israel caused us is nothing compared to Syria’s actions in Lebanon.

And on top of that, Jamaa defends the ‘Resistance’ saying it is a necessity and it must not be armed and should be given the right to defend itself. Is Eddie Abi Lama3 ok with that ? Is the 14th of March ok with that ?

If that was an attempt to dialogue with Jamaa, this is not the way it is done. I understand they were and are still needed for electoral purposes, but that doesnt mean we cannot talk about our differences with them, but on the contrary meet and then come up with a statement saying we agreed on the basics and Jamaa is an essential party.

“وعن سلاح “حزب الله” قال: “ليس مطروحا على الاطلاق نزع سلاح المقاومة، “

Where were you Mr. Abi lama3 ? Sleeping when he said that ?

Did you listen to Hakim’s speech 10 days ago ?

Shame.

I think the meeting should be done with the presence of future party only , as Hariri is trying to get all the sunnites in lebanon besides him . we all know that after July war now almost all Shiite in lebanon are with Hizbullah so now on the other hand Hariri is trying to do same with Sunnite in lebanon . So this move should be done by future movement only and not with 14 th March movement. If jamaa Islamiya agrees that Lebanon is a final country for all its residence Christians and Muslims & Taeef is the Law that we should follow & Muslims should live peacefully with Christians & hizbullah should be disarmed and Christians are a real partner in Lebanon . I think there is no problem to join the 14 th march movement .
One thing more , Israel did a lot of harms to christian community. they left christians slaughtered in moutain and in east Saida and in south wihtout caring and they gave arms to Walid Junblat Party and they told Druzes that the Christians are preparing for a war against them. These people they care only about themselves. Israel is an ennemy and they didnt help LF in any thing.beleive me if they care 1% about LF Bachir Gemayel wouldnt die in 1982 .

Let us don’t be influenced by the media and open on us another door to be fought by other Christians saying: “you say we deal with Hezbollah you deal with Jame3a…”

let us don’t stop on every movement, it was just a formal meeting where Eddy Abi Lame3 attended so that no one will say parties of 14 of march are dealing and making connections & agreements with Jame3a w you as Lebanese forces are set outside.

Let us don’t exaggerate on every movement… thousands of us died and Hakim spend 11 years in jail for our principles… Do think for a second we might leave all this blood behind us. & honestly I wished you didn’t give such importance to this topic.

One advice, try to post something about the moussala7a of el jabbal that was going to take place this August with the presence of the patriarch, Jonblat & Lebanese forces and was cancelled due to Israel war… and try to ask why the Irange Movement remembered el mhajarine today??? W ask why they don’t start taking care of kessrwan bridges houwe the clean and innocent deputy???

    Shadow,
No one claimed Israel is not an ennemy. I did say he is an ennemy but what Syria has done to Lebanon is enormous compared to how Israel has harmed us and we cannot ally with Syrians, like Hezbollah did, to defeat the Greater ennemy Israel, which is a point Jamaa agrees on.

as for the Israelies and their role in the Mountain war, it is more complicated than that and i hold Amine Gemayel responsible.

Israel did help the LF in trainings and arms and tried to ally politically but Bashir wasnt ok.

i really dont understand what is happening. i debate with people and tell them the LF are not puppets, that they are doing something good for the country, that they are equal allies with Future and the others, then i see something like this.. and i start wondering.

Any more doubt that the Christians in Lebanon are on the road to DHIMMITUDES??? Our only salvaltion is ISRAEL. Whether we like it or not, if Israel is “wiped out” the Christians in Lebanon as an entity will disappear. So, let us review our agendas and think before saying stupid things such as SYRIA IS NOT OUR ENNEMY - ISRAEL IS…

  • 6. John | October 3rd, 2006 at 8:39 pm

I totally agree with Irange. There was no agreement signed at the event. I also think you should post something about the people of the jabal and when they are going to start going back

Battal Agha and Ramy: sorry to say this but idiots like you make the shit called bin ladin prosper and fanatic muslims to increase. learn to live with others and respect them to let them live with you and respect you.
As for Israel, we all know how respected the palestinian christians are to them, I hope you’ll get this one day. We have 2 neighbours that are our worst enemies, and our best chance for survival in our country is unity not 3rd world war and not the assholes across the border.

We as sunnis don’t even agree with Jama3a or have plans to live in a country ruled by them or their ideas, but its better to keep the on your side than send them to Aoun and Hizbulla in the current game of majorities.

Fadibou - Obviously you are still dreaming. Yes the Christians are much better off in Israel than under Palestinian rule. You want facts? Habibi look at the Christian population in the West Bank and Gaza. It has been shrinking since the advent of the PA. Furthermore, if you go to Jerusalem, where all residents hold Israeli IDs, all residents - even muslims - will tell you they prefer to live under Israeli rule. Having said this, I am not saying that Israel is Paradise, but compared to other “Paradises” yes ity is much preferable….
