After i posted about the “burning tyres” incident by Lebanese citizens who refuse to pay bills, i have discovered some of our readers have an inferiority complex whereas they felt offended even though i never directed the insults to them ..

First of all, here is a brief definition of that complex:
An inferiority complex, in the fields of psychology and psychoanalysis, is a feeling that one is inferior to others in some way. Such feelings can arise from an imagined or actual inferiority in the afflicted person. It is often subconscious, and is thought to drive afflicted individuals to overcompensate, resulting either in spectacular achievement or extreme antisocial behavior, or both. Unlike a normal feeling of inferiority, which can act as an incentive for achievement, an inferiority complex is an advanced state of discouragement, often resulting in a retreat from difficulties.

Now back to the main topic, i never generalized that ALL shiites dont pay their taxes as some assumed, but i clearly stated HA followers, but if some Shiite readers ( ALI 1559 for ex) felt offended, this actually says a lot, it actually says that this community has a lot of problems and that you guys are in denial ..

I feel no shame saying the Christian community in Lebanon has tons of problems, i expose them and i admit they exist, because this is the only way you can resolve those issues.

Shiites have a problem, they always felt this inferiority complex, always felt persecuted and forgotten, and their political parties only exploited this factor to keep them poor and needy and gain political ground. They were neglected i must admit, but so were all communities in Lebanon, yet they rose from the ashes and flourished …

You tell me they were persecuted by Israelis, i dont think anyone was more persecuted than the Christians in Lebanon, yet again i dont see them poor and needy and supporting a terrorist militia with over 400 millions dollars budget for weapons per year, while they cant even afford to pay their electricity bills ..

So spare me the insults and the racist calls, get over this complex of yours and accept your community’s problems and try to get rid of them.

Cheers.

Allow me to add another concept to the Inferiority Complex. It is called “self-victimization”. This is what is hurting Arabs most, far more than the West, Israel or any other social oppression. Here’s how it works: A person fails, then regardless of whether it is their fault or not, they always try to find a reason outside their control to explain their failure thus making them “victims”. This creates a downward virtual cycle from which it is hard to escape.
In other words, Shiites have been persecuted, neglected and treated as inferiors. Now, anything that happens to them, it is automatically somebody else’s fault – mainly Israel. This exacerbates the situation and hurts the Shiites much more than anybody else can hurt them. Their leadership does not help either. EVERYTHING is the West’s fault.
Guess what happens when you’re a victim? You do not take responsibility of anything and you wait and wait hoping somebody would come and magically make things better. And if that happens, it would be already too late. Arabs are hurting themselves by themselves. Once they decide to take control of their own destiny and improve from within, nobody will be able to hurt them and Israel would have no choice other than to treat them better. Self-victimization is all over the world: African-Americans, Algerian-French and many Muslims.
Some cultures were raised to overcome problems. The Armenians arrived to Lebanon in worst conditions than the Palestinians. Anjar was a “moukhayyam”. Has anybody seen Anjar lately? Armenians did not rely on an Arab or European community, they took matters in their own hands and decided to rebuild. Palestinians are still waiting. Now do not get me wrong, I am not saying that the Palestinians in Lebanon have it easy. But look at the American budget for example, there is as much money going to Israel every year as there is money going to Palestine, Jordan, Egypt and Lebanon. Where is that money? It ends up either with the leaders or is spent recklessly by the people who consider themselves entitled to these funds and never use them to improve themselves.
Finally, there are many exceptions of people who were able to break that cycle, however the Shiite community in general is playing the self-victimization game which will end up hurting them much more and bring them backwards.
    victimization

Your comment is very deep actually. I know it from their teaching. I would like to meet you someday though I am away now.

The infereiority concept of the shiaa is conected what is called “almazolmiyya”. They teach and learn every year that they are the opressed. This is why even when they have millions of dollars and thousands of missiles they will still have the same feeling. They remember the atrocities of ahl al bayt peace be upon them and they start wining. In psychology this is called projection. They live in their past. This is the biggest problem. One of the their tenants to become shiaa is to believe in imamiya ie Ali may Allah be pleased upon him deserves to be the caliph. This issue is so important for shiaa unlike sunnis.

Another psychological complex exploited by “some” shiite leaders is the feel of guilt!

Background: When Sayidona Hussayn, the best of creators, tried to reclaim his authority, he went to fight Yazzid. He called all his supporters for the fight. No one replied except few. He bravely went to battle and he was brutally massacred with his close family members. This is what is called karbala2… the shittes of the old days blamed themselves for not supporting their leader. This self blame became through the ages as a guilt feeling. Traditional Shiite leaders encouraged this feeling through sorrow rituals in their mosques (Ma2attem), where I have seen people genuinly hurt themselves as a self punishment.

Imagine: a sunni killed S. Hussain, yet the Shiite blame themselves!! It is part of the “almazlommiyya” concept!

Hezbolla is using this guilt feeling to the maximum. I have seen many signs in Da7iyeh that said “Don’t betray the Hussain of Modern days”. This has a tremendous power to subjugate most Shiites to follow Nasrallah (the supposedly Hussein of Modern days) blindly even sacrificing their worldly rights.

Ibrahim: I’d like to compare notes with you someday… send signs when you are around to figure out ways to meet.

  • 5. Ibrahim | December 14th, 2007 at 3:23 am

Yes the feeling of guilt and sadness is also true. It became part of the thinking and identity.
Saying that Hussein was killed by a sunni is inaccurate. Hostorians say that the people of al Madina and Mecca advised him not to go inclduing close companions.

    N,
Let’s say that your opinion is somehow logical. And I force myself to believe this. But U musn’t deny that YOU are ONE person who thinks like that, and that all the other readers of this blog, espacially the LF ones DO think that ALL the Shiites ARE “Inferior”.

You keep on talking about freedom in your blog. You talk about unity, about Gibran’s famous sentance… But all this leads to nothing as long as you are “bi kel ma3na el Kelmeh” Blind by the real social fact that is going on in our country.

In deed, You see the Shiites from a political point of view, and ONLY a political point of view, (of you-LF)! WHat do you know about islam! What do you know about SHIITES! What do you know about sunnies! you think radical…just like HA (But still there’s a big difference between both of these parties when it gets to the conception of respecting the human being- You are way far from having a commun sense to understand and solve our social matter in lebanon)

I’ve been all over this country, from Nakoura and bawabet fatmeh, till tripoli and way near the syrian borders:
IF YOU PUT AWAY THE POLITICAL WAY OF ANALYING THINGS, You will notice that WE, Lebanese, have the same approch on freedom, happiness, living together (neighbour, family, ect)… It doesn’t matter if we are from different religions! SO what! It makes the welth of our country!

Anyway, I’m not going to develop my opinion otherwise I’ll be writing pages.
I am a reader of this blog, but I’m totally against your vision of politics and also (and first of all) of life… But I do read to see the opinion of all the actors of our ISSUE.

Just know that I’m not a partisan of HA…not even MA.. I’m “neutre”… I’m just a lebansese, who want PEACE for Lebanon, and I manage to bring all my ideas from a logical way of scanning the crisis in our beautiful (but poor) country…

N.B: They’re will be peace in this country when A LF will accept A CHII3AA to live next to him in the north, and When a SHI3A will accept A LF to live in the south next to him. (I took here the extreme case). So please, take of your political glasses (and cut off you muppet strings) and realise that we may have ONE opinion in this country, and ONE way of living TOGETHER like NORMAL BROTHERS (and forget this BLOODY PAST!and think HUMAN!)..
AS to say, start thinking about this matter instead of waving the knife in lebanon’s Wound. ANd, if you don’t ever accept the idea, I’m sorry to tell you this, But go and make yourself a country and don’t ever stick to your identidy card the word “LEbanese”…

WE MUST LIVE TOGETHER, DIE TOGETHER, AND FIGHT TOGETHER, TO BRING LEBANON’s (and not USA, syria, iran, etc) NAME WAY UP HIGH IN THIS WORLD!
    WE ARE LEBANESE!…

    Cheers

ya istaz Ibrahim, you have applied the concept of projection incorrectly here. in psychology, this concept means one ‘projects’ his or her feelings or shortcomings or suspicions on others. what does it have to do with living in the past? I did hear that in libnan one can practice medicine, or be a pharmacist and not be licensed (perhaps by using someone else’s license?). i guess this applies to psychology as well. youre all a bunch of sigmund freuds reincarnate (more like sigmund frauds). salamaat

First of all, did N become a psychologist? Or he just is a smart writer like the usual?

Inferiority complex is the perfect picture of our Lebanese society. Most the time, minorities are the ones standing behind it (Druze, Shiite, Christians) we all are and this is why we are having political problems dealing with each others.

And because of that, Christians (not all, am not going to use plural terms like you did N) are having a major problem dealing with the rest of the Lebanese people. The 14th of March Christians are playing the DIRECTOR STYLE (psycho term).

    Director style:

*determine to come out on top of everything.
    * will not admit being wrong or unrealistic.
*appear to be cold and unfeeling dealing with others.
*tends to use dogmatic phrases such as always, never, you can’t, I can, NE7NA.

Become realistic about who you are and what you can and cannot do. Demanding perfection of you is unrealistic because no one is prefect. You guys need to wake up already and look around you for a once. You are not any better than others. What makes you any better? Your dream????

Shiite are Lebanese people. They are fighting for a cause. They represent 30% of the Lebanese population and are productive in many ways. I am a Lebanese shiaa and I don’t receive any dollar out of the 400 millions that you’re talking about N, so my family and friends.

Spare us as Lebanese not just shiaa your internal conflict ouwet and try to work it out in a good ways. Amal and Hezbollah fought for yrs and then got united. You fought one battle (boundoukiye battle) and you can’t get over it. Now tell me who’s smarter there? We got over our problems, you didn’t.

    Peace out ..

    Ali,
You still didnt answer any of my questions or claims …

So what if Shiites r 30% ? how did they progress from 50 years till now ?? how did their political parties evolve ? how did their community evolve ??

My whole point is that you dont receive money …

You never admitted your problems, you got used to them .. and thats the worst part of all

  • 10. Tarek | December 15th, 2007 at 12:13 pm

I don’t care if they have the inferiority complex. My problem with them that they do not believe in the lebanese citizenship in the first place. Their ultimate loyalty is not for Lebanon nor for the Lebanese. Most of them of course.

You have to accept that you’re racist. This is a fact ya chabeb and you can’t do anything about it .

    Ali1159,
Thank you so much for not going their ways . I respect the way you represent your ideas without any personal insult. Beleive me aloush , I dont expect a lot out of you guys . How is it possible when you have a fanatic enemy destroying your life once every decade? Still, i would like to hear your answers on #9 …

Despite our political issues, Former president K chamoun, 50 YRS AGO DIDNT ALLOW ANY SCHOOOOOLING IN SOUTH LEBANON , late bastard ali al assad (father of kamel al assaad) agreed on it and threw our chiaa community 1000000 yrs behind , this is why our community is suffering right now… we were treared as second class citizen and this is when 7ARAKET AL MA7ROUMIN was born . You and your former leaders in the office were watching and when the ppl of that time woke up , you started to have prbs with it …

How did our politcal parties evolve ????

Well, so far so good baby , I see amal and HA standing strong while you having prb sitting with eachothers. Still, you are collaborating with the TAYYAR CHIAA 7OR scum bags ( jame3it kemil al assssaaad) , mabruk 3lek this alliance . Indeed, history repeats itselfff……

Chiaa are 30% cuz they love lebanon and are attached to their lands habibi. On the other hands , ppl of yours leave permanently without even thinking of coming backkkkkkkk , come on N , dont you think??

N, ana bi amrak bass khafifle the insult chuway … ya3ne hade al wade3 la2ino al balad ma ba2 yit7amal …chiaa are good bass 3indak generation ma sa7ala tit3lam ..chu badak yena nem farmers w nfi2 doctors???????????? Iza ana w inta sa7alna ghayran ma sa7i7lo.. Mitel ma fi 3indak uneducated chiaa , 3indak educated productive ones as well. we are not use to our prb , we are working on it N . Doesnt Abu george bil daya3 have prbs as well ?

PS : when my grandfather asked kamel al assaad for schooling , the second one replied(ya3ne kemil) : IZA IBEN AL BAYK (YA3NE IBNO) 3M YIT3LAM INTA CHU BADAK BIL 3ILEM ? my grandfather end up a farmer for the rest of his life and died as one while iben al BAYK was 3m bi3riss bi 2asser chammoun bil sa3diyet .
