How to buy votes : Hariri 101
Posted by N10452Clashes have been ongoing for weeks now in the North, causing tens of kills and hundreds of wounded, and most importantly great material damages.
Who was fighting who ?
No one can claim it was Hariri financing militia men to cause riots for electoral purposes. We’ve seen what his so-called “militia” was capable of in Beirut. The man will never opt for military confrontation, it’s not his policy.
But honestly, its quite demeaning for the Lebanese people to read such a thing.
This flagrant abuse of people’s misery to prepare for Elections 2009 is a quite common trend in Lebanon and is one of the key reasons this political class is staying in power.
I have nothing against using money for political purposes, as in promoting your electoral program or convincing the people of your intentions, but buying them like they are for sale is shameful, yet the people accept it.
You tell me they are poor and needy, i tell you most of them got poor by trusting those leaders they had and voting for them against few bucks. The blame is on the people as much as it is on the leaders. Any people capable of having a M14 revolution and liberating himself from savage invaders such as the Syrians can rise above money bribery and speak up for itself.

If we had a F***ing authority that could protect its citizens from armed thugs then this would not be a problem, but the government is non existant and the army is all about talk and no action when it comes to internal conflicts! How do you want these poor people to rebuild their property if no one gives them a handout? It’s sad my friend but it’s reality N!

N,
Hariri got the lead because if he was to wait a bit longer Aoun would have used this matter to get the best of it for him, and HA with their divine money coming from the drugs of the Bekaa and stealing cars and demanding ramsons would have paid for those people who r really in big need for money especially with the rise in all the prices and especially fuel which they will need for the winter. it’s a pitty but that’s what hapenning, YALLI SABA2 SHAMM EL HABA2.

They should be preparing for war not for elections.

N, how else can you compete with Mal Nazif from Iran? The Iranian are buying ALL Shia and even Christians, how can Hariri/Saudi not use money to keep up? This is not new Hariri the father always used money for politics, and Berri has been stealing the government for 25 years to buy his followers, and before 3Arafat and Kazzafi and… Now Aoun wants Wizarit Achghal to buy votes with zifet (he learned from Murr!) maybe it is not their fault if the people like to be bought and sold.

this is stupid.
i don’t consider this buying votes AT ALL.
hezbollah starts an unnecessary war with israel, israel destroys lebanon, hezbollah pays people to compensate them for their losses during the AVOIDABLE war with israel.
on the other hand, hezbollah attacks sunnis in the north, and hariri who has the money decides to take care of them. hariri didn’t start the fighting that’s going on in tripoli. and he’s not continuing it either.
so there’s no comparison. what hariri is doing is great. think about it if he didn’t do anything at all. people would be writing posts about hariri doesn’t even care about his own sect.
listen, UNLIKE hezbollah, he’s not paying them for damage that he himself caused. it’s not money to shut up. sure it has a political benefit, and the political loss of not giving is greater than giving, but it’s impossible to separate this from the fact that it’s simply the right thing to do.
more than that, what he’s doing is keeping sunnis on the path of moderation, whereas nasrallah is keeping shi3a on the path of war.
i’m sure i’m not the only one who sees that.

I have no idea how you can come up with posts that EVEN TAYYAR can’t even come up with.
Those who are getting money will vote for Hariri no matter if he pays or not. They have his photos and his father’s photos and they voted for him in the past elections and they went down to beirut on March 14 and after they get some cash for damaged houses, you COME UP WITH THIS POST !!!!!!!

I love Saad Hariri FOREVER!!!
Look at all the concessions he made in the cabinet for the sake of the Christians (LF/Kataeb/Qornet Shehwan) and also for the unity of ALL of march 14 (including PSP/Democratic Gathering) at the expense of his own party and the Sunni.
You have to keep in mind that Mustaqbal feels it deserves every single one of the ministers it was demanding originally too, just like LF/PSP/everyone else thinks we deserve every one of the ministers we were demanding.
Honestly, how many parties in Mustaqbal’s position would do all this for the rest?
GOD BLESS THE HARIRI FAMILY.
Now time to go grab a piece of cake and a beer in celebration of the justice ministry…

N,
You really need to better think of what you post and write about. You can NEVER compare Hariri with the rest of the skums out there. His actions today speak for themself.
19. M | July 11th, 2008 at 11:35 pm
yes u owe hariri a lot. u should bow before him as u normally do twice a day .
instead of being proud of getting power by the votes of the ppl u are supposed to represent, u owe what u got in government to hariri.
this is the price u pay when u agree to bow to hariri and jombo for the sake of a couple more seats in the parliament.
by the way, the wazir u are happy for represent hariri and sunnis and does not represent christians.
mabrook for u.

True, Saad really showed class in putting his ambitions aside for the sake of M14 and the country. Rememeber, after what happened in May he could’ve started playing dirty games with his rivals and even support armed groups openly, but he chose to take the high road in hopes of sparing Lebanon another war…I really didn’t think much of him, but since Doha, Saad has really made every effort to avoid conflict and serve the interest of the nation…for that he’s earned some respect even though he was under a lot of pressure from his own community to face hizb el sheytan down. This is a man who has TONS of money and could’ve flipped his finger at everyone….he rose above it and did what is right.
21. Fuziyad | July 12th, 2008 at 1:12 am
BIG BIG BIG respect for Saad’s concessions not only concerning the christian representation but also among his own community, there is not even one mutaqbal mwazzaf
SAAD SAAD, SAAD SAAD SAAD

Calm ur horses guys ..
So for you Hariri is not buying votes … i ask you then :
Why werent the damages paid for the Achrafieh citizens whose businesses and houses were destroyed ?? not UNTIL TODAY !!
This exploiting of the poor and keeping them poor but feeding them from time to time is how politics in Lebanon is working and is what Hariri is best at since he has a lot of money … its as simple as that ..
23. N10452 | July 12th, 2008 at 12:24 pm
And by the way, its not by buying such people that we will keep the majority on our side .. its by getting competent and strong leaders to lead our community and confront the Opposition and the Syrians …
Its not by bribing the poor and getting a sissy like sabe3 to protect Beirut ..
