Hakim speech : Pros & Cons
Posted by N10452
One thing can be said about that day, is that it was a complete success for the LF party and its leader, organization-wise, crowd-wise and to a certain extent political-wise.
Hundreds of thousands attended the event, yet no incidents reported. High levels of organization and coordination, almost nearing perfection. Theme however ( huge posters of Martyrs from 1982 till now, Sheikh Bashir, Rafic Hariri, Rene Moawad, Francois el Hajj etc ..) was in my opinion misplaced and a bit disrespectful to our martyrs, i will elaborate on that point further in my post.
As for the political aspect, today’s speech was very different from the ones Hakim gave before, and in more Pros than Cons and will definitly bring positive outcomes in the elections, if it is materialized and some gaps filled.
Pros :
- The introduction was excellent, Hakim clearly blasted all those who call the LFers thugs & criminals, saying those same thugs & criminals were the first ones to go down on the streets to defend those people labeling them, and died for them ..
- Public apology was excellent, and i’ve been calling for that a long time ago, apologizing for all those who committed atrocities as individuals in the name of the LF and pollute our image and disgraced our Cause in the past. Hakim too full responsability for them and apologized to God and to the people, a brave move that needs to be materialized on the ground IMHO, by opening offices of complaints for those people, paying them indemnities, apologizing to them, meeting up with them, let them know the past is behind and we as Christians must forgive each other.
- Calls for unity and quoting & mentioning the great Christian leaders & Individuals ( Gemayel, Chamoun, Edde, Malek etc ..) was also very good and hopefully will be materialized on the ground.
- Confronting Israel should not be a solely Lebanese job and must include all the Arabs and the Palestinian cause is very distant from our Cause and aspiration.
- Remembering Bashir the founder at the end of his speech was a very strong move and is always good.
Cons:
- Attacking Syria was all over the speech, but in my opinion and as Bashir used to do, Hakim had to make it clear that no foreign country wishes us good and that we only do what is best for Lebanon, and will counter our foreign allies even if they are the Americans in case they were wrong. This should silence all those who tell the LF is obeying orders.
- Hakim should have avoided quoting Aoun or Frangieh or any other Christian leader and call for a general reconciliation sponsored by Bkerke and therefore throw the ball in M8’s hands who will surely refuse it.
- Talk about the defensive strategy was inaccurate and unclear. What was agreed on in Doha and what came in the Bayan Wizari is different, since even though the latest bayan wizare clearly states that the state is the only one responsible of the people’s security, it also states HA has the right to stay armed. Hakim should have pointed out those mistakes committed by M14 to agree on such points.
- No mention of the growing Salafist & Jihadist groups and their political coverage from some M14 leaders. Those are as dangerous as Hezbollah and should have been mentioned.
- Finally, the theme i believe was inappropriate and more of a political one. Putting pics of martyrs such as Hariri, Walid Eido, Georges Hawi is disrespectful to the martyrs we are commemorating, since those martyrs at some point were assisting the invadors in killing us, politically or militarily.
A huge poster of Sheikh Bashir and the tens of LF political martyrs who fell between 1992 and 2008 would have sufficed.
I guess that almost sums it up for my evaluation of the speech.

their last so called agreement proves that they fear them …
I’m not with these sort of strategies but a last we’re dealing with a radical group that’s imposing their values on us…ex[calling kuntar a hero...]

for the huge poster with the martyrs, i think it was a way to show that the martyrs didnt start with hariri, but with bachir
that LF were the first martyrs for lebanon
or actually kataeb (being a kataeb myself)
anyway its also to put forward the idea that the LF martyrs didnt die for the LF party but for lebanon
and since the other new martyrs also died for lebanon, that makes them our martyrs too, the lebanese martyrs.
4. danny | September 22nd, 2008 at 12:35 am
Let’s stop the armchair criticizing PLEASE. I agree mentioning of the defence strategy was skewed and that mention of clAOUN indirectly could be seen as wrong…But you are wrong in accusing DSG in being soft then attacking him for his mention of the dumbass Orange cult.
Why should he not? Aoun has constanly abused the faith that the christians had placed in him. Constantly backtracked and has becoame a man with no face or principle!
As for the posters…Why not have all? DSG insisted he was a part of march 14, so how can you “forget” about the martyrs of march 14? Are there specific martyrs? They all belong to a cause…they died defending their country! Let us not drift into sectarian BS like the rest and play petty juvenile politics.

N,
I’m somehow new to this forum and man i loved ur post. Can’t agree with u more. I was there, loved the organization, it was in fact a lesson in civilization to all who think of us as uncivilized LFers.
I loved the speech, it was really wonderful: the introduction, the apology, the call for unity, bring back the history and roots of the lebanese front and resistance, even the attacks on Aoun and Frangieh (which i believe are unfortunately necessary with all the non-sense accusations from the other side). It was in fact a new and breakthrough speech as promoted on the LF site.
However, I (and lots of other rife2) had higher expectations of “new” and “breakthrough”. We neither really-expected a split from M14 (although we kind-of hoped for it), nor the “conceptual” beginning of christian reconciliation (which we hope for – at some point – despite all the differences).
What we really expected was at least the formation of a christian coalition/block within M14, one that openly addresses christians, only christians. One that openly works for only christians. One that represents and speaks in the name of christians, and only christians, without necessarily attacking or provoking other sects and religions. Enno 3ala raseh we7deh wataniyyeh w saouret el arez w 7obb w gharam and all, bass ya khayyeh for once yotla3 hadan and address only the christians without feeling the need enno yra2e3a – even partially – in the end to thank the others, mention them in the context of national unity or include their pictures. Why are we ashamed of proclaiming our christianity publicly and loudly? Ya khayyeh iza baddon y2oulo racists and religious fanatics so friggin be it if it’s the last resort. They all do it, they all openly portrait themselves as sectarian leaders when it gets sensitive. They even publicly take pride in being the defenders of their sects and even religions when it gets sensitive. Why can’t we, although we need it the most. And again, not out of racism or fanaticism, out of pure need. WE have the cause, WE have the history, WE have the beliefs, WE have the resistance, WE have the martyrs, WE have the heroes, WE have the potential, WE have bashir, WE have Nadim, WE have Sami, WE have el Hakim, WE have el Kate2eb, WE have el A7rar, and WE have the LF. Why isn’t it happening yet???
Anyways, Bashir 7ay fina, Long live el Hakim and long live LF.

The salafist will not stand a chance fighting against Hizeb. They dont have enough support and the whole world is against them. They also dont have the support among their own people (most sunnis support saad). On the other hand, 90% of shiaa are with HA , so is the lebanese army !!! Remember, It took hizeb 2 days to control beirut and jabal lebnen and lets not forget the hundreds PSPer/ FMer who were captured and released in less than 48 hour.
Only God can disarm Hizeb on the battle field. Till that day, yehnikon salemeh bi hal balad. ya di3n li meto bi balech bi 14 azar.

8. Mickel | September 22nd, 2008 at 2:26 am
But Danny this is the LF MARTYRS MASS, Not Feb14.
All those Hariri and co. posters should have been there.
9. danny | September 22nd, 2008 at 3:56 am
Mickel,
I know. We have to encompass a lot of our “allies”…
By the way it is MARCH 14….not Feb14.
Don, you are right. William Hawi was the leader of the Phalnge forces that kicked out the terrorists from Tel-El- Zaatar

I am not sure if DSG had some feedback on his speech before delivering it. Your critique could be really a good one.
Cheers
11. Rima | September 22nd, 2008 at 4:44 am
There is nthg wrong with acknowledging our Sunni allies who lost great leaders. We don’t want this anniversary to look like a purely sectarian gathering…it shows that LF’s cause is wider than its Christian base.
12. Michele | September 22nd, 2008 at 8:45 am
I totally agree wz Rima; it’s very important n crucial that we wemember all the independance martyrs , whether they were from the LF or not.
I find it a very wise move n defintely had a great impact on all the Lebanese.
At least the M14 christians can easily hang their allies martyrs; can u imagine if Aoun one day decided to have a mass to celebrtae the memory of his martyrs will he ever be able to hang the picture of Mughniyeh’s next to his martyrs??!!!

15. W | September 22nd, 2008 at 10:43 am

why almost everyone in lebanon hate that guy even his allies are backstabing him.i cant imagine what that guy did in the civil war and how many lives he removed from people. he should done that apology long before omg what a satanic guy!!!!!!!
18. danny | September 22nd, 2008 at 2:12 pm
The immediate effect of DSG speech and apology was reflected in the “press conference ” that frangieh gave today…He looked and sounded as stupid and as scared as ever. Using his vulgar language and kindergarten vocabulary he demonstrated that DSG’s and LFs have been gaining more support in the Christian community. Also, he attacked the Batrak…
We knew what fools are going to say…
“he did not mean it”
“it was a maneuver”
“he is a killer”
etc. etc…

Usually, i have no time nor the interest to visit tayyar.org but i did today n i couldn’t refrain from laughing… I mean how old are the administrators?
I knew that z oranges have the Geagea complex but i didn’t know it was so serious!!!!
So often i read z remarks of z oranges posting here asking why we only comment on Aoun on that site; well have u seen z tayyar.org?
I mean these oranges should be grateful to Geagea for giving them opportunity to fill their site otherwise it would have only been news about:
When did Aoun wake up n fart
Where did Bassil eat
Where did Kanaan ski
Where Nicolas met his wife
What would Alain Aoun want to become when he grows up…
Pffffffffffffffffffff!!!!!! n’importe quoi!

I agree with you.
Hariri’s pictures are everywhere. Whenever there’s an occasion, we have to mention abu baha2. And stand a moment of silence….
Everyone’s always talking about him like he’s some God.
If we’re going to put Hariri and Hawi and all those pictures, then it shouldn’t be called LF martyrs mass, it should be called M14 martyrs mass or celebration or whatever.

What about Hamma?
Anyway, Geagea is not responsible for Sabra and Chatila….and the War in Mount Lebanon was a lot more complicated than your simple and swift analysis.
Anyway, I consider most Syrians cowards coz they don’t dare say NO to their masters…I despise you guys coz your regime su**cked our blood and caused us a lot of trouble…Finally we kicked you out forever.
The difference between Lebanese people and Syrians is just so simple: you are cowards we are not.

it is mohanad not mohammud !!!!
and in the matter of hama i live 20 miles of this city and tell one one thing the muslim brotherhood in 1982 invited hama
they went from house to house seeking the recruitment of civilians and those who didnt apply they were shot and their families … i am ganna tell u also about the 1979 bombardment of the gun school in aleppo were in one nigh 3000 boyz from the ages of 18 to 22 were blown up !!!!! so hafiz and raf at al assad f**cked them well in hama and they caused that sh*t to them self and in the matter of our government let me tell u somethin many syrians would like to have baathests in office than muslim brotherhood and a religious regime whatever the bullcraps that they promise us
second ,if u hate pres assad that doesnt mean that the ppl who r livin next door do !!! and that is y the syrian is not acting up because there is nothin to act up against !!!
32. MOHANAD | September 24th, 2008 at 4:58 am
and about what i said regarding dsg i would tell to do one thin !!!!!
just google his name or check him out on wikipedia !!!
the first few words that u ll find in his biography r describin him as war lord and one of the lebanese war leader that allegedly involved in atrocities against humanity in the lebanese war between 1975 and 1990 ….
and the best to all lebanese whoever they r and wherever they r !!!!

What would show up when we search for your ‘leader’? Dictator, brutal regime…
You know you should come to Lebanon; I need someone to paint my house. I know you’ll do it for cheap

Hé hé hé Mickel!! Easy on z boy!!!
Mohanad, i’m surprised that u could actually open that page and write down ur comments. I mean i know in Syria there are lots of restrictions on the internet.
I even know that facebook is banned in Syria coz bad bad people are saying awful things abt ur poor president Bashar!!!
Btw, is this the kind of country u want to live in? where u have no opinion no right to express ur thoughts?
Trust me boy, i personally have no problem wz z syrian people i only have a problem wz ur politics that interfers in our business.
So an advice little boy, why don’t u worry abt ur own country, own politics n own criminals n try to educate urself on real things.
36. MOHANAD | September 24th, 2008 at 8:25 am
yah!! this web site is banned in here jst like facebook and many other but those who r workin in the proxy on blockin unwanted webs knows shit about what they r doin !!!
and how can i mind my own business i mean the gov made a decision to move 10 thousand of its troops from area to another INSIDE syria and just watch ur blogs comments and articles so honestly u in lebanon r the ones who r not mindin their own business and “” i know that this is a long post but this is the last time i am ganna come here so be patient “”
i know that u ll suffered durin the syrian present in ur country and believe me every one here in syria is feeling for u and we have some idea about what u were goin thro but many ppl here also believe that what the gov is doin now only aim to protect and secure the interests of the syrian ppl ” even if that was takin its effect on u !! which i c that is !!!
but in the end i wanna say that i wish u all luck to mickel michele rima ja3far kizballah u know all of u and also wish that we will get to the day were syria’s national interests dont clashes with the interests of the lebanese ppl no matter who they are or even how their history is written
and peace to ya all !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
37. kezballah | September 24th, 2008 at 8:51 am
Mohanad don’t leave the blog man u should stay and give your opinion even if you are attacked sometimes it is because we (LF people) are against the Assad regime and sometimes the discussion gets hot but if you stay and give your opinion and listen to our opinion we will learn more about each others and maybe you will also make friends.
Peace to u and I hope you still visit us when you have time.
38. Michele | September 24th, 2008 at 9:10 am
I join my voice to Kezballah n ask u Mohannad plz not to leave…
It’ll be nice to debate wz u n i have a feeling that u r an open-minded person.
At least, i know n u seem to be a genuine person n i might sometimes disagree wz u aggressively but it doesn’t mean that ur comments won’t be taken seriously.
I hope u’ll reconsider ur decision!!!
PS: it doesn’t mean that i would be “sympathique” wz u whenever I don’t agree wz u
39. Rima | September 24th, 2008 at 9:20 am

Firstly, regarding Hama what the “Muslim Brothers” did was awful but that does not give the Syrian regime to kill women and children and wipe a whole city off the map….what a sickening logic
Secondly, please admit that the Syrian people are cowards and don’t dare face dictatorship…how come only Lebanese people dare say no? Liberty and freedom are much more important than bread and milk…If I have the choice between death and freedom…i will definitely choose FREEDOM: the essence of human dignity…
