FPM Lecture on Federalism
Posted by N10452The FPM organized a lecture on Federalism led by MP.Farid el Khazen yesterday in Zouk Mikael.
The lecture was entitled : “Federalism in Lebanon, a solution or a problem ?”
I have one remark to the LF students body here and LF responsibles, isnt Federalism our project supposebly ??? yet not one single lecture or orientation was organized on this issue ..
Back to Dr.Khazen, a professor that i highly respect and had the opportunity to meet and talk with him on several occasions, i wish if he could elaborate further on two points he raised in his lecture.
Decentralization as proposed in taef is not Federalism, however it IS the basis for a federal decentralized system in Lebanon. Secondly everyone wants to preserve the co-existence we have in Lebanon but on what price ?? Christians tried to do so in 1958, 1969, 1975, 1990 and all they got in return was more compromises and persecution on all levels.
Strong Christians is the only guarantee for this co-existence to stay.
Correct me if i am wrong, but you are a member of an group allied to an ARMED militia who wants to fight everyone with its weapons inside and outside Lebanon …
Finally, i dont know who that Bassam el Hachem is, but i am sure he wasnt listening to one single word Khazen was saying ..
Check this pathetic closing statement, mas2oul el taskeef el siyyesse ?? lol
Min wen jeybeeno ?? Jem3a Arabiyye ?
I really cant understand the FPmers sometimes, you organize a lecture on Federalism led by a very respectful doctor who asks that Federalism be discussed and doesnt relate it to the Americans in anyway, and then get us an FPM responsible to say Federalism implies war in Lebanon ??
I wonder what are those who attend the lecture thinking now !

SmaSh: Danny, i didn’t understand what you said. Care to repeat please ?
SmaSh: Mike it’s true, and you feel it when you are around people who are from different faith. We all understand each other. Sadly, politically, they are all the sluts of the countries that are around us....

danny: #43…Mike you are making sense when zionists are not involved!!
danny: Mike, you said”Now I can understand better why you guys don’t seem to understand the premise of contemporary politics.” Do you mean Napoleon & Alexander are the forefathers of contemporary...
Mike: The solution is quite simple. Everyone of Lebanese nationality should see himself as Lebanese only and leave religion and politics aside.
Mike: Now I can understand better why you guys don’t seem to understand the premise of contemporary politics. All the leaders you see as great are in fact criminals of war. Napoleon sent all the tall young men...

Federalism is not longer our project. Get over it.

yes john is right, federalism is not the project today… well actually it was never an LF project, but only an idea of a possible solution.
but i keep asking myself what’s the problem with federalism? USA has it, Germany has it, switzerland… all new countries are using it!!!
it doesnt mean in any way a spliting of the country, but just another way to run it.
but come to the point that LF isnt doing much to inform or discuss political solution lately, maybe this website can start something…
a wiki or a forum to discuss ideas of laws, electoral law, rewriting the rotten constitution maybe.
remember, whatever country we want, it must be a country of leaders but of laws.
leaders can be killed
not the law

roch when you say it was never the LF project you insult yourself first, your history second, and our intelligence third.
Take a look at the LF manifesto dude. Unless you also think it is not viable anymore.

The old manifesto is no longer viable. A new one will be coming out in the next couple of months. hopefully everything should be clarified. In fact, federalism at the time of Bashir was not a solution. When asked in some interviews he would always say no to federalism.
However, when Hakim presented federalism as a solution, times and circumstances were different from that at the time of Bashir.

John,
You sound so confident about this new manifesto .. Again if it wont include Federalism, ya di3an all those who died for our principles.
As for Bashir saying no to Federalism .. please show me where he said so ..
6. John | March 15th, 2007 at 6:40 pm
I’m not that confident about it, its just what i think (hope) will come out of it.
A while ago I read in an interview with Bashir when i had to do a presentation about him for political science last semester. When asked about federalism, he clearly stated that he is against it. I’m trying to look for the interview to show it to you but i simply can’t find it. As soon as i find the link, you will be the first to know about it.
Ya di3an all who died for our principles?! I assure you that they did not die for the sake of Federalism! Our principles are not solely based on federalism. Federalism was one proposed solution, it was not a principle that our martyrs fought and died for.

did u say federalism or feodalism??
man, federalism is applicable in BIG countries, like india, USA, china, germany, etc… what kind of federalism would be applied in lebanon?? lebanon itself is much smaller than the smallest federal state on earth… ur completely out of ur mind..
