Do we look stupid ???
Posted by N10452I have been following the updates of the Nahr el Bared since day1, and supported fully and unquestionably the Lebanese Army in its decision to storm the camp and kill those terrorists. More than 80% of the Lebanese were supportive of the Army’s decision and have expressed it in several ways.
Yet there is a very worrying factor here, which is making people lose interest in supporting the army and is making them question their capability, which is the Media reporting of that battle.
There is no question this battle is a very rough one, that the unexperienced and infiltrated and underequipped Lebanese army is not prepared for such a confrontation, that even Americans are having trouble fighting such groups, but let us be honest about those facts to the people and not claim victory while the battle is still at its peak.
Elias el Murr claimed victory more than two weeks ago, yet everyday we see more and more far from that victory and from the insights on the camp, it looks like it might take few months.
The people must be well informed, must stay motivated and supportive of the army, we cannot play it the “political way” in such sensitive issues, we all saw how public opinion turned on several leaders who mis-informed their people on the outcomes of wars.
Now to give you an example, i have been reading for weeks now that the army is within 50 meters from Fat7 el Islam, that victory is very close, that the militants are desperatly fighting, that there are none left etc etc … then you hear KATYOUSHA rockets were launched from the camp ! lol ..
Again our brave army men are fighting a decisive battle in Lebanon’s history, let us not turn the people against them.
How many “ma7awir” fi and how many buildings are there still left ? and how many militants are there still ?? Arent we cornering them from all sides ? Maybe there is a network of tunnels .. Did the Army check that ??
Here is a small list of the unclear informations we are getting ..
“اشتباكات محتدمة بين الجيش اللبناني وارهابيي فتح الاسلام على جميع محاور مخيم نهر البارد”
” استمرار القصف العنيف ومدرعات الجيش ومدفعية الميدان تركز على الجهتين الشرقية الغربية وحي الداموني”

N,
You’re right in every thing you said in this posting, and as usual things aren’t always clear in Lebanon. But to add, many of the Catioucha missiles were launched from unknown locations, that could be out of the camp, with the Popular Front (Jabha Cha3bieh) the so called Kiyada 3amma as prime suspect.
I think the Army is fighting many parties within and out of the camp, and the price is too high till now, wich lead to a big question mark.
What is really happening. and what if the Army wants to control a whole camp not only a bunch of terrorist such as Fateh Islam.
And by asking what is really happening, i urge 8th of March followers not to start answering that those are Hariri’s fighters and the US plan etc… because it’s not the case and i believe Syria has everything to do in that matter.
The real problem in Lebanon now, is that the 14th of March people are still defending, while they should move to attack on the political side. We’re looking so damn weak, and it’s time to be the strongest
2. Johnny.B | July 14th, 2007 at 10:59 am

My friends,
There is a difference between defending a very very dense area (Nahr Al-Bared - old camp) and taking over Lebanon (don’t be scared, even during the civil war, no group could take over the country militarily). Go to google earth and see how dense is the area!!!
Second, there are a lot of booby traps all over the camp. The Army prefers to take his time rather than having more than 500 soldiers killed. Don’t rush the Army!!!
Third, after the “new camp” was taken over (it is less dense but has high rise buildings, the Army was hoping to have the Palestinians to take care of Al-3absi gang. Well, things did not work according to their wishes and in addition Al-gebha Al-she3beia (Ahmad Jibriel) joined Al-3absi gang.
Lastly, the old camp is full of tunnels connected together in addition to what they developed by cutting into walls through building so they will not be seen.
By the way, have you ever fought in a dense urban area? Even Israel with its 5 tons missiles from the air couldn’t take over Jennin camp in West Bank until it COMPLETELY demolished it!!!
Give the Army the flexibility to conduct its mission and they are in the trenches and they are trying their best.
4. ghassan K | July 14th, 2007 at 12:57 pm
Oh, I forgot to say that the Army tried its best not to harm the civilians.

No we don’t, but Elias el Murr looks very stupid.
The press also looks very stupid. People don’t have enough info on a crucial matter.
I’ve said before: we need daily press briefings from a serious army guy, not the bullshit communiques.
Same from the gvmnt who will release info to Kuwaiti papers and the League of Arab morons but won’t tell us anything.
Any wonder that rumors abound and are believed and the PR war is always lost by M14 and the state?
Is it normal that we hear that the US and Hariri are arming the thugs and there is no pic of, nor questions for, Hezbo/Amal guy heading the Surete Generale??? (and other intelligence failures).

if its true that the civilians have now been evacuated then it should be relatively easy to drop some homemade napalm (if USA wont give any) on to the remaining area under the terrorist control. burn em out.

Impeach sanioura
It is time that the opposition act to move towards the impeachement of president sanioura . Never in the history of our country has there been so many acts against the well-being of our country than with Mr. sanioura , not even during war time and the syrian-israeli occupation. This is ridiculous and what’s more rediculous is , blaming the syrians for everthing !
His work to deceive the lebanese public and to use the power of the office to establish a personal power base in ways that violate the guinding principle of this country are mysterious . He represents corruptions at its most! Look at our soldiers dying because of his fata7-islam gang ! Why lack of action?
It is time to put aside fear and take actions. This is imperative . Their thugs attacked us in tari2 jdide , they attacked our innocent youth (mark houwayek) , and then blamed us for it?? I dont know what you’re waiting on general ?! I dont know why you’re being nice sayyid hassan?? They calling you terrorist , then why not showing them what a real terrorist is like? Why being nice to them ? We need to take ation ASAP in order to protect our country ! IZA MA KOBRIT MA BTIZGHAR . Otherwise , we can call ourselves ; IRAQIS .
At last , one advice to all the fpmers , watch your back guys . Nchala , we are victorious , victory will be ours , we do deserve it . Time for truth .
11. Fad14 | July 15th, 2007 at 7:25 am
Ali: Here are your options for next action
1. Grow a beard like that of Sayed Hassan and hide in a bunker underground till this is over,
2. Pass in Tari2 Jdideh and get beaten again. its not your neighborhood so go to Dahyeh, no one goes there anyway, Oh I forgot, no universities there, only training camps.
3. Run away to France, the embassy is open for fast running coffee lovers.
4. Resign, Oh i forgot again, you did that you lazy $%#, you were only there for the money and not to do work.
5. Go to Iran, Its shiaa land and now there is also Iraq for you, go riot there, blow each other up, protest and you can beat your heads with knives everyday. Its allowed. Its ashoura land after all.
Last word, Lebanese army is not for FPM or HA: Aoun ran away leaving them to die after he got the urge for coffee, REMEMBER how many of them died only the LAST day because he refused to surrender.
HA have an army of their own, why don’t they start cleaning up the camps near them????

Fad & Johnny,
Bravo Chabeb, u did the necessary regarding @li, but u forgot to mention that he lives in the US as he said before, so we shall ask him what the hell he’s doing there, and why not in Dahyeh or Rabieh. Ali, when u said, and i quote “Never in the history of our country has there been so many acts against the well-being of our country than with Mr. sanioura”, why don’t you mention Lahoud. why you always forget Lahoud, he’s in power also, and he was the one and only for 7 years before, and was directly or indirectly responsible for lots of disasters. Should i remind you of these diasters??? also, u’re once again defending the Syrians, it’s like u can’t hide ur true feelings, and i should tell you in conclusion, that the truth shall rise in the end, and when it does, neother Hassouna not Generalak will have any role in Lebanon. the Shia’s will not stay blinded all their lives, cause in the end, they will choose what’s best for Lebanon, not for Syria or Iran. Just look how the Shias in Bahrain reacted lately to Iran’s statements. Lebanese Shias will follow soon and will know that only their legal Government and representatives are truly working for their sake.

To Ali Baba.
i am Sunni from Tariq Jdeideh,
My mom is Maronite from Ain el remmaneh.
My Father was Lebanese moukhabarat.
My uncles were Liut in LF
We lost 11 houses in the war.
1. Ishtirakieh
2. PLO
3. Israel
4. Qawmieh
5. Sourieh
6. Amal
7. Hizbulla
8-9-10-11: Aoun
My family lived in both sides of the war.
I saw the massacres done by Amal
I lost 2 cousins in tarik jdeedeh to them.
They were university students both who refused to join Amal.
Now Facts.
Try to pass in Tariq jdeedeh with a photo of Hassan Mastolah and see what will happen. last time you passed near tariq jdeedeh and you lost some punks.
then you got kicked out of the university and inshallah out of all beirut sooner or later.
Qum is your resting grounds and we will not rest till you go there. hopefully on stretchers.
As for you being a business man, now imagine if your business was in Beirut and you rely on it to feed your family and Hassouna wants to do orgy camps in your parking. Then talk democracy .

@li 1559,
I thought u’re a better when it comes to debate, and you accuse Fad?? akid bravo chabeb, because thay are deating logically, not like you do. You just said what you want, and u refuse others’ ideas, and when u wanna reply u just send some trash talking, without really replying to the main questions raised. I think i’ve raised many issues, but still no answer from you to any of these issues, which proves once more that u’re so weak in dialogue and that you should not have any place in this blog.
Now before u send any reply, try for once to be a little bit logic and answer questions and don’t be a blind follower. Read again my previous post, and if u cannot answer, i prefer never hearing from you o this subject. Maybe in other postings

Johnny u’r right GMA has not the right to disrespect the journalists ,that’s a mistake.
I propose the February 14 group to find this as an excuse for rejecting GMA to become the President.
Why General Aoun doesn’t deserve to be the president?
Feb14:Because he disrespects LfBC reporters.

Ya shabeb, rou20 3ala ba3ed. At the end we are all Lebanese, maybe the political situation now in Lebanon enforces us to be divided into March14 and March 8, but no one of 2 groups can ignore the other. For that, we should be unified all Sunni, Shiei, masi7i what ever. Just go in your memories and remember the civil war in Lebanon do you want us to go back to these days? Let us unified together and keep walking on the road of prosperity and success that Mr. Hariri planned and worked to achieve the Lebanon that all real Lebanese want.
Please Wait
