Denying history …
Posted by N10452“سقطت بحمدون والقوات هربوا الى دير القمر”
Shame on any politician who disrespects the sacrifices of our comrads, our martyrs …
Shame on you ya Michel Aoun ..
Lfers ran away from Bhamdon and the Mountain ?? I have never seen courageous men as much as those who chose to go to The Mountain to defend our villages against the massive offensive that was being prepared by Druzes assisted by Syrians, Palestinians and even Israelis.
Barely 300 fighters held them off the assaults for more than 72 hours, and cleared the way for the army to intervene, an army that never showed up because a certain General Aoun didnt want to send them ..
No one has ever accepted to sacrifice his political carreer, his reputation to save his community from a potential massacre like Samir Geagea did back then, and even though he lost the Moutain, he was capable of saving thousands, and the LFers, mainly Fouad Abu nader back then, who was injured badly yet came back immeditaly to fight after getting treated, showed an unseen resistance and an oustanding courage ..
Read Paul Andari’s book, a man who lost his brother in front of his eyes and who was lucky enough to survive the hell Lfers were in to tell memorable stories from the battle field.

Whatever Aoun said,
and whoever believes him,
No one can change neither can deny or forge the History of Heroes.
Whatever Aoun did,
And no matter how many seats or positions or elections he won, In the end, only the Truth will prevail, and this truth is nowhere near him.

I think the best reply to Aoun came from the former Army Commander General Tannous, who denied all what Aoun said, and confirmed that he has all the documents, as well as the Army Command, everything is registered and documented. But the best part when Gen. Tannous said that Aoun was a Colonel then , and he was not allowed to attend such meetings, ya3ne 7ajjamo mni7, wou fahhamo shou 7ajmo. In my opinion, the greatest historical mistake, is accepting Aoun as an officer in the Army, and as Jad said, (under 1.75 cm) shou hal wasta el awiyyeh!!!!????

U’re right Johhny,
And i said it in a previous comment, that many questions could be raised regarding the appointment of Michel Aoun as an army commander in 1984, while he was the commander of the 8th Batallion, which was related to the strongest battles against the Syrians and their allies in Lebanon. How can they except Aoun as am army commander instead of Gen. Tannous?? i think the answers are much clearer now. It was a plan, and we fell to it. From the moment Aoun became the army chief, the realtion between LF and LA started to witness some troubles, and when he was appointed PM back then, things got worse until the big clashes and war. Many people know much about that period, they have all the secrets, among them Johhny Abdo, Ibrahim Tannous, Fouad Abou Nader, Massoud Ashkar, Simon Kassis and others. But unfortunately, some of them are with Aoun now, and we can’t depend on them to disclose any of the truth, but others, mainly Abdo and Tannous are much credible in this regard.

Our friend Cromwell from Spain,
it’s been a while since we last heard from him, so even he was bored and disgusted from what he saw concerning our internal differences, and didn’t see himself in it, or he’s so busy, but either way, i would like to send him a special greeting, telling him that maybe he saw one of the bad sides of our politics, but this does not represent our Lebanon and its civilization in any way.
17. Rodge | July 31st, 2007 at 5:05 pm
To all of you guys and girls,
A pact should be set:
We should all move to a higher level of dialogue, even if we disagree, but let’s do that with respect and some logic at least, without using the low level some of the Politicians are using at the moment.
Lebanese have more than 6000 years of civilization and education and culture, the Phoenicians are our ancestors, while Christians have about 2000 years of civilization and reconciliation and love. So we should remember who we are and behave the same, but other people should also remember that.
Each of us has his opinion, and to open a new page, we should agree on somekind of pact between us, at least the ones who are always writing here, this pact should set some benchmarks to be applied, and we should all refuse people who disrespect others and who contribute in further intensify the hatress, even if this person is of our own opinion.
There must be a point of start, let’s begin here, i can’t find a better place, all are well educated people, and i don’t think anyone encourage violence.
Myself, i’ll be the first to start, i will not say or act in any way in a disresptful way, and i will write only when i have something important or logical, or serious to say.
Thanks all

This is the first time that I visit this site and I am amazed at how history is rewritten and falsified. The battle for Bhamdoun was not fought by Syrians or Palestinians. It was fought by the Progressive Socialist Party, made up of nearly 100% Druze fighters who struck back against the Lebanese forces and the numerous outrages that they had carried out against the Druze villagers in the mountains in the years preceding Harb-al-Jabal. Why is it that you guys have to make up this big melodrama about the forces of evil confronting the forces of good…don’t be sore losers…the Druze just happen to be and have always been the better warriors in Lebanon. This stems from a marshall culture, hard mountain living, and their belief in reincarnation that makes the Druze fighter tactful yet fearless…go back and study your history and understand that the Druze are the best friends and the worst enemies that you can have…if you treat them with respect and fairness they will die defending you and your children BUT if you cross the line and try to bully them, minimize them, or push them around…they will defend their land and rights with a vengeance. We recognize that the Jabal is inhabited by Druze and Maronites and that is how it should be…the relationship has been symbiotic for nearly a thousand years and Lebanon was formed by this relationship under the Druze emir Fakhr al Din and his successors…it is only when the Maronites become aggressive that they get attacked and expelled, circa 1860 and 1983…so please let us not repeat history and stay clear of badmouthing or instigating the Druze. Another very important thing to remember is that the Druze represent a far less dangerous challenge to Christians in Lebanon when compared to Hizballah and their Islamist philosophy…when is the last time you saw Druze moving into slums in Beirut or settling in your towns or throwing their garbage and beggars all over the country? They generally keep to themselves, treat others with respect, don’t have many children, don’t try to convert anybody, and at least keep their towns and villages clean! They are open to the west and just like you they do not want Lebanon to be an Islamic state…I can’t understand the position of christian leaders who ally themselves with Hizballah…I am certain we will all live to regret their mistakes in this era.
