No matter how much one can critisize this or that 14 March MP, we cannot but salute them for their courage.
I come to think that each of them risks getting assassinated any time during the day anywhere he is ..

They have to watch everywhere they go, what time they go, search the place before parking anywhere etc ..
No one forced them to choose this path, and even if some do not have what it takes to be an MP, and even though we critisize them on several occasions ( Be it Antoine Zahra, Nayla Moawad etc ..) ..

I cannot but respect them for their stands …

The next few days and even weeks are very risky and i truly hope we wont have to lose another figure from our 14M bloc.

Well said N, history will judge the M14 martyrs as the heros of the second independence, and if the living MPs don’t compromise or backdown, they will go down in the books as courageous patriots despite all their shortcomings and past mistakes.

D, I think N10452 already said “even if they don’t have what it really takes” and I said “despite all their shortcomings”…You cannot be always idealistic in politics, in the US they also catch politicians lying stealing etc etc…These assassinations are to scare the MPs back to being Syrian puppets and some got scared like those that switched to March 8, but the others we have to salute their courage like N said…Remember the Syrians will not forgive them I think they will try to kill them even after the elections are finished!

From my own view after reading many history books, the killers are :

    Hariri/flay7an : Israel.
    Gebran twayne : Syria.
    P. Jmayel: syria .
Walid and kahlid eido : Israel.
    G. Ghanem : Israel .

You need to stop using Lahoud’s analogies, and see the broader picture.

How would Israel benefit from these assasinations?

  • 7. Ali 1559 | September 26th, 2007 at 8:02 am

    Mikel Mikel Mikel

You need to think outside the box , and read history as well .

Dont spare the MOSSADE , Sir .

In 1997, two Mossad agents were caught in Jordan, which had signed a peace treaty with Israel, on a mission to assassinate Sheikh Khaled Mashal, a leader of Hamas, by spraying him with poison at a pro-Hamas rally in Amman. Again, they were using fake Canadian passports! Also, 2 yrs ago they killed one of the JIHAD ISLAMIE leadres in saida (lebanon).

The benefit behind the assasinations are ; FITNEH between the sunnis and shiites (walid eido) , Fitneh between the christians ( P jmayel ) …. And you know what?! Good for them , if they can do it why not !! It is time for us to build our own mossad .

  • 8. Traffic | September 26th, 2007 at 9:47 am

Ali at least you spared Tueini and Gemayel from your asinine theory, which is enough to at least demand a condemnation from the opposition for the killings.
Plus, I like it how you compare the assassination of a M14 MP to the assassination of a Hamas leader just to prove a stupid point. I think history books never mention that Israel has made it clear that Hamas leaders are on Israel’s hit list because they consider them as terrorists. They never denied seeking to kill every one of them. Just like every M14 MP is now on Syria’s hit list.

  • 10. Rodge | September 26th, 2007 at 12:27 pm

    Ali 1559,

Maybe u’re right,i can’t pretend i know the truth, but on which basis u distibuted assassinatons to chose that Tueni and Pierre were killed by Syria and the others by Isrrael?
I don’t see any logic, so even you try to prove it or at least build ur theory on facts, or u shouldn’t have mentioned the issue.
Unless u know things we don’t know, but i doubt that.
And when you say Fitneh, a word so much used by the 8th of March people as well as Syria. When someone whats to make a Fitneh, the least he can do is hurting both sides. Why? because in that way, he will have more chance to achieve his target. But what we’re seeing here is targeting one side, and it’s clear why.
So please, u can have ur own politicl opinion, and u can discuss as long as u want, but the fact is that Syria is even killing the all, or contributing in the process by killing 2 of them and allowing Israel to kill the rest (as you said urself) which means Syria is involved in this conspiracy. So for once, i would like to hear one of ur leader condemning Syria for what it is doing, and for what it has done through the years.
Don’t you see the big space between you and your leaders, because all the 8th March people i personaly knows, and lots of them are close friends, are against Syria and hate her even more than us, so why accepting the alliance with its regime? at least we are in accordance with our leaders on the main topics, on their alliances. Maybe we criticize them for the way they are dealing with a certain subject, but not for their political position.

Ali, i hope you consider openly my comments here, without feeling offended, and i think your capable of writing good comments too.

    Ali,

I agree with you and what the Isreali guy was doing in Lebanon in this period? tourism? Syria we all know what they are, no discussion that hey are leader in assasinations.

  • 12. Rodge | September 26th, 2007 at 4:37 pm

Yes they are braves those MPs,
But they should continue till the end and take the brave decision of electing our next strong and straight President, the way we all want.

  • 13. Ziad | September 26th, 2007 at 8:42 pm

They should go all the way and elect a hawkish M14er, a brave and independent Maronite like Dori, Zahra,M3awwad Junior and Carlos. Nice guys like Harb and Nassib will do no good with thugs like Hizbullah and the Assad family.

  • 14. mikel | September 27th, 2007 at 1:15 am

    Ali

Do you want me to be sad that they tried to kill the hamas guys.
    Alla la yreddun.

Second, all of the fateh l islam militants have admitted that they killed sheikh pierre.

YOU need to think outside the bun and read some history; the UN reports in particular.

  • 22. Ali 1559 | September 28th, 2007 at 3:52 am

    Mr rodge

I can be wrong and that’s for sure . I am not Junblat nor Zahra to predict who’s next on the hit list . I am using my own theory like the usual .

Allow me , for a moment , to explain myself; the propaganda of both sides (isreal-syria ) is full of venom , and the mutual violence is reaching new heights while the lebanese ppl are paying the high price . Political killing has been around for several decades now and the christians are paying more than others bcz of their divisions. Guys , christians in lebanon are divided and their politics do not reflect much learning form the CIVIL war . Therefor, they have been the perfect target for many yrs . Also, they are SLOW learners while the FAST ones are being killed ! G. teuni and P. Gmayel were FAST learners and this is exactly why they got rid of them quick . Indeed , history repeats itself , isn’t the same 1982 situation (bashir) when the americans were watching us getting bashed by both israel and syria? Time is running fast and till we capture the crimnals BITKOUN SARET way to late .

PS : jubran’s kassam (bi 2ssem lebneniye …) and piere’s personality were against the syrian-american plan in lebanon.

    Thank you

HK was the first victim of the intra-Syrian struggle between the camps of Shawkat-Bashar and Kan3an-Khaddam. The only Syrian official that came to HK’s funeral was Khaddam’s son.HK’s followers today lost track and are completely siding with the party that killed their boss !
