Ali Bazzi, member of the Amal political bureau, uncovered that House Speaker Nabih Berri will convene Parliament on September 25 2007 to elect a new president for Lebanon.

Of course one might think that Berri is still looking for a solution to the crisis, but knowing this man’s past and present, he is just pulling himself away from the fights and trying to act like the head of the parliament by calling for presidential elections.

He discredited himself from this role long time ago by calling for dialogue sessions outside the parliament’s sessions, then by joining the 8th of March team and not attending parliament sessions, and finally by paralyzing the house.

He always runs from the present situation by giving us false hopes and dates, yet anyone who knows what this man is made of can read btw the lines.

His first condition for elections: 2/3 of the parliament representatives should be there.

Meaning ? If the 8th of March Representatives resign or fail to attend , there wont be any elections, and knowing them, they will find any excuse not to attend.

Secondly :
Bazzi said the legislative will convene to elect a new head of state to replace President Emile Lahoud without the presence of the “unconstitutional” government, adding that only MP-ministers will be allowed to attend the September session

The Constitution is clear on all those issues, who is Nabih Berri to dictate such rules ?? Another initimidation to the 14th of March and to the government and most importantly another sign that he is not serious about those elections.

Question remains:

Will there be a new president ? or are we repeating history and choosing Chaos for the 2nd time ?

I believe, that the presidential elections this year will be very special. I am afraid that it will lead to a division between the lebanese, and maybe also (god forbids) two elected presidents (of which AOUN by Mou3arada w allah yestor).

Whatever the case is , Lebanese Forces should insists that 2/3 should be present for election otherwise muslims + 1 christian member in parliament will elect the Maronite President.

We should think long run and not short run.

Yes democracy wise, I think ElSanyoura should be our next president, lol so we can watch the precious look on Aoun’s face.
Though I would love to see Dr Geagea as president, I say not these coming elections.
I don’t think even the mou3arada would take Lebanon to more despair by appointing Aoun. I doubt they trust his mental state that much.
