Sanioura Running For Parliament!?
Posted by MickelFrom Nejmeh Square, Prime Minister Fouad Siniora officially announced on Tuesday his candidacy for one of the Sunni seats in the Saida district for the upcoming parliamentary elections.
He said he would provide services to the people and implement reforms, adding that he “will try to pave the way for state institutions to work in Lebanon’s interests.”
“I rely on God and the Lebanese people who participated in the March 14 uprising,” he said.
This move from Sanioura is beyond me. How can the Prime Minister finish his term then run for parliament which is a lower position?
Regardless of his political stances throughout the years and his bad policies ( mostly the financial ones ), I think he’s one of the best statesmen in the history of this country; and now he wants to go sit in Parliament where his nemesis Nabih Berri can knock a hammer and tell him to sit down and shut up?
This guy has had a good run but maybe he should end it right here. Why would you run for an office that is lower than the one you’re in right now? Plus do we really have to keep cycling through the same people over and over and over? Can’t we get some new candidates? I don’t know what he’s trying to achieve with this move.

It can be summed up as Lebanese Political Menstruation (LPM versus FPM)!

It’s ok for him to run. There’s nothing wrong with that.
Camille Chamoun, one of Lebanon’s greatest statesmen, ran many times for parliament after being the country’s president.
Most prime ministers were elected MPs or ran for elections at the end of their mandate.

Mikel,
Well you know, in lebanon everyone wants to “yekoul el bayda ouw ichrita”…
great man or not, I think politicians should end their terms and give the way for others.
Since i was borne when the lebanese war started, until this day, i still hear the same names…over and over again… berri, junblat, gmayel, chamoun, etc…
The religion of the lebanese people is “politics” and that’s what killing them…
I remember when syria took control of all lebanon, i used to come in summer to lebanon, and it was great!!! no open politics, no fightings, everyone was affraid from assad the dictator…it was excellent!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hope that syria returns, or for a lebanese government worst than syria, because that is what we deserve.
A former army general, like this pathetic aoun, talking about the Patriarch as if he is his worst enemy, or that thug frangieh…
WE NEED A SADDAM-RULE TYPE IN LEBANON!

Sanioura is fully aware that he can’t be just one among many MP due to his status, but in the same time him retoring from political life would be a great symbolic defeat for march14 the stateman would be gone and the feudal and warlords would be the only one left…it’s allready very shameful that none of the ministers of houkoumat el istiklal wal soumoud(except the jumblatt boys) will be running for parliament…Sanioura running is the symbol that no we don’t regret having protected the constitution by keeping that government for 2 years despite the DT carnivals and other tire burning celebrations.
If he looses to ousama saad then this will be one more sign that the lebanese people deserve what has been happening to them for all these years…

Sanioura has proven himself to be a great statesman…through the past four years I doubt it if anyone could have withstood the crap that M8 through at him….From 2006 July war to HA resignations, to the occupation of downtown and the seige of the serail…to the assasinations and explosions…to the delay in the election of the President, January 2007 and May 7…etc…etc….
Now, the brahoura is not about Sanioura. It is about HA/Amal losing Saida! Losing one seat!!
I am pasting what I posted on another blog….
Please read carefully and you be the judge…
To better understand why HA/Amal are at arms against Saniora or FM is very simple. Under the 1960 election laws Saida and Zahrani are split up into two districts…See below a concise detailing of the districts…
http://www.ifes.org/publication/56c0cdaa64aa2cad85b3f5996e37cb4c/IFES_Lebanon_ESB_Paper030209.pdf
This leaves Saida voting for two Sunni seats only. This off course will end up adding a seat for the M14 side and a loss for Berri and his thugs. As we can all see in 2000 Saida was a part of a bigger “district” whereas the Shiite dominated regions had the deciding factor on the election of the Sunni members from Saida.
So, in summary all other comments like Jay or HA others are full of CRAP!! This is basically an addition to the M14 ticket and all other analysis are loaded with speculative propaganda and non truths…
See for yourselves!!

Maybe he knows that it is the end of the road for the smelly gangster berri. No more holding parliament hostage for iran and syria.
