From The Telegraph:

Eighteen years ago, Rashin Soodmand’s father was hanged in Iran for converting to Christianity.  Now her brother is in a Mashad jail, and expects to be executed under new religious laws brought in this summer.

A month ago, the Iranian parliament voted in favour of a draft bill, entitled “Islamic Penal Code”, which would codify the death penalty for any male Iranian who leaves his Islamic faith. Women would get life imprisonment. The majority in favour of the new law was overwhelming: 196 votes for, with just seven against.

AOUN: IRAN IS A COUNTRY THAT RESPECTS PLURALISM AND FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION & BELIEF ..

Old news Mikel…We all know where Orangebutt is going! If the Maronites in Lebanon vote for him. then they deserve what they get! NO more f’n excuses!

This moron preaches that Iran is a symbol of tolerance and coexistence…….

It’s not him!!! It is the people who follow him! As I said above no mre fucking excuses. Vote him in; then you deserve to live among the shit lords of Najaf and Qum and Karbala!!

  • 2. Doc 1559 | October 26th, 2008 at 5:24 am

    Mikel

First of all , why are you going backward? Why are you digging the past? Didnt you learn ya sa7be that digging the past will only hurt you???

Second, hussein soddmans ( rashin’s father) was a spy(traitor) for the west , he insulted Islam and its prophet . He also wrote a book where he attacked ayatullah khomeini (called him oppressor/criminal)… Under the Islamic rules, all traitors must be executed , logic eh? 2ino you wanna go above and beyond your limit and get away with it??? 3la add bsatak med ijrek ! ra7am allah mar2en 3rafa 7ada7 fa wakafa 3indah.

Third, even if a person is suspeted to be a spy, constitutionally he has the right to defend himself (under the iranian rules) till he is proved to be guilty judicially. On the other hand ,and in most western countries, if a person is suspected to be an extremist muslim, he would VANISHHHHHHHHH!

At last, knowing about hunger is different from knowing hunger! Mikel, you only hear about these things (hanged for being a christian in iran) but I lived it ! We’ll never kill an innocent soul just bcoz and we’ll never kill just to kill. Iran is a source of peace in the region, just as christians goes beyond the rituals to bring forth kindness ,charity and caring.

PS: there are at leat 73 registred churches in Iran while there are none in some communist areas, an estimate of 50,000 to 70,000 Christians are locked hand tied behind bars in north korea!! Now go attack them!!!

  • 3. elie | October 26th, 2008 at 6:55 am

    ali ya oubbare…
if iran is so nice place …what the hell are you doing in the states?…pack your shit..and go there….don’t forget your che77ata..ya doc…you are a fool ..ignorant .. fanatic ..shiaa .and your khomeiny is not ayatollah…you can only call him ayatolchaytan …..the one that you ‘re calling spy…ashraf min kel bani matwal.

  • 4. Michele | October 26th, 2008 at 7:31 am

Ya alloush, u will never cease in amazing me!!!!!

A person like u, living in z states n studying medecine still has such backwards thinking is really shocking!!!
So u think that if u express ur opnions n ur views,u should be hanged?
So if we need to go wz ur logic, u need to be hanged in the State coz u r against the freedom of speech, against practicing z religion that u want n mostly promote death culture WHEN u r supposed to heal people if u want to become a doctor!

    Man, seriously u have issues…

  • 5. Doc 1559 | October 26th, 2008 at 7:57 am

    Michele/elie

There is nothing wrong with expressing ur opnions n ur views, this is your right as a free person. But when you go over your limit then the country or the regime you’re living under must have a major prb with you!!! 2ino chu ra2yak ya elei 2ino ana rou7 3la vatican w balish sawra isslemiye there ??!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! chi bida7ik! Does it ring a bell habibi, ya nusstak ana. think than talk you little racist!! I dindt even attack christianity(never did b4) and here you are talking trash like you always do.. wle kbar , kbar ya zghir…

Also, michele, I am not agaisnt freedom of speech and this is why im here. But, ya If one day I decide to start an islamic revolution here in the state , then they should hang me from the ceiling. I should never cross my limit and always respect the country I live in… Point made!!

PS : Seek not to change the world, but seek to change your mind about the world.

  • 6. Doc 1559 | October 26th, 2008 at 8:04 am

    Guys,

How should we punish a traitor?? Ohhhhhh, just 4give him eh?? Pathetic !

  • 7. Michele | October 26th, 2008 at 8:25 am

Ya Ali, ya habibi, how does expressing ur views make u a traitor? So he thinks that Khomeini was an oppressor n a criminal (n trust me lots of people think that too), did he really deserve to be killed? by doing so, they r proving that z guy is correct? Why is his son in jail today waiting to be executed?

Trust me if u go to the Vatican n start an Islamic revolution, no one will jail u n execute u as christianity forbid killing a human being that God created. Ya khayyé, the pope JP II even forgave the guy who attempted to kill him.

  • 12. ja3far | October 26th, 2008 at 2:26 pm

i like reading some of your comments here..

you sound like a real freedom defenders… i do wonder why the states have stoped al mannar from being broadcasted by satelites their… or why some of the people who were trying to broadcasted it lately through cable tv were sentenced for years in prison .. is it because they thought they do threaten the country?

michele i like the list you have presented , but honestly, i think it is more a plus toward iran then it is negative… if you will get a report for shia people or sunni people who were arrested at that time you will get a way much bigger list. so what if christian people were taken to prison if they have braken the law?… how many muslim person is in prison in lebanon? should why make a stetment about the right of muslims in lebanon?

guys, whether you like it or not, iran is an islamic country… it has islamic laws and regulations that people living in it have to respect… muslims there have to respect these laws the same way the christians there have to respect these laws. christians have all their rights to practice their religious believes under these laws… the end

    salam

  • 13. proud 2 b lf | October 26th, 2008 at 3:48 pm

do you think killing christians would stop christianity…
why don’t you read the christian bible first…
    and Ali..ya Doc…
Just Tell us how many people were killed in the states ,the vatican…or in any western country for converting to islam?…none….
that’s why you are and will always be the lowest of the low

  • 15. Rodge | October 26th, 2008 at 4:02 pm

    Guys,

What i see here is our brothers Shias defending Iran just because it is a Shiite ruled country, while others are criticizing them because they hate HA and Iran is supporting the Hizb, but to be fair, Iran is a religious Dictatorship and no one can deny that, so please don’t defend a Dicatorship, we’re supposed to be over with these regimes.
And also to be fair once again, Saudi Arabia is also a Dictatorship of tis own in the religious matter, they didn’t allow the Christians or other religions to have a place to pray in, and they are oppressing their people.
So both countries are not fair with Christians and we should agree on that, but what we see is Shias who are defending Iran when someone criticize it, and Sunis defending Saudi Arabia when others are criticizing it.
Please stop this, the hell with both, we are in Lebanon and we want our sake, so F** all the other countries who are supporting one side in Lebanon against the other whoever is.
But i think this Iran criticism started after Aoun paid a visit there, but let us stop this debate because Aoun did not do the worse thing in his life when visiting Irn, he did worse and he will do even worse, so let him go to hell not only to Iran, it fits him better.

  • 18. ja3far | October 26th, 2008 at 4:29 pm

    rodge… i do respect what you see…
it is easy to sit and criticise anything .. it is easier to become a dirty racist like some people here are… however, you cannot take something out of its context and criticise it… iran is a third world country the same way we are… if you want to judge such a country you should study the histroy, the conflicts and the culture… i think i prefair to be a christian in iran then a christian or a shia in most of the arab and muslim country… but a christian in iran or a christian in europe.. no doubt i prefair to be in europe…

ja3far unfortunately you are losing your nice guy image with these threats “I hope we will meet one day” and the smashing talk, not very smashing guy you are turning out to be.

Please remember that you are a guest on LF blog even if you are getting a salary to write here, this is not your workplace, if what we say make you so upset you can simple leave, you don’t even need to give us your resignation letter.

N I hope you see this so you remind our guests not to use threats about physical harm or they will not be welcome guests anymore.

  • 24. Michele | October 27th, 2008 at 7:41 am

Ya Ali, bisharrafak, i read many articles about that PASTOR n there is nothing that says he was executed on the basis of being a spy. So please engliten us wz ur information.
He was spying for whom, what country?

It’s so easy for regimes like Iran n Syria whenever they need to get rid of someone to accuse them of treason.

Was it a national treason if a person wishes to practice or believe in a different religion?

I have an Iranian friend, living in the States who converted to Christianity 15 years ago n since never went back home.

Today he has kids who could never visit n meet their families in Iran because the father believed in a different religion.

    Is that fair??!!!

kazib…of course am getting a big some of money to writte here .. we are all like that, bunch of mortazaka :)

i know i am a guest here, and i have always behaved as a guest respecting the place and the people who write here… can you find any insult for your or fot the others believes or icons in my writings?

however, if you think i am a guest, you should treat me as a guest. you cannot throw racist attacks on me and expect me to encourage you..

when there was a topic about al batric, have you seen me ëven commenting about the subject? who am i to judge the batrak.. i do respect that he is your religion figure…

so you should understand that al khomeni is a very high religious figure for me… whether you like him or not, for me he is equal to the pope. u can be racist in your comments i will feel pitty for you.. but when elie start insulting my religious figures, he have crossed the line… if his parents didnt know how to raise him, if i will ever have the chance to meet him i will surely know how to fix such a mistake

    Michele so funny as ususal

The problem is that some people cannot handle criticism and try to polish everything and feed it to us in the name of free speech ….the follow and support regimes that silence people by force and then claim their rights to free speech…

I am not ashamed to say that we as a christian community proved to be arrogant people, back stabbers, and traitors. Just look at Lahoud, Aoun, Frangiyeh, and the list goes on…We are also idiots and yet claim to be brilliant. Look how a psycho like Aoun was able to fool thousands of Christians and even fooled people like shamoun, and Tueini and still fooling christians into beleiving that Iran is the new superpower…It won’t be long before you see most Aouni followers transformed into shiaa. That is fine there is nothing wrong with changing religion!!!!!!!! Heik ahssan ba bi3oudou mahsoubiin alayna

Well the truth hurts but still if we don’t see it we will be burned by it sooner than we think

    Cheers

ja3far I don’t want to waste your energy and my energy on this simple thing, I think you should stay a gentelman and not try to raise other people’s children ;-) because it ruins the dialogue on the blog. If someone insult something dear for you then you can complain

  • 43. kezballah | October 27th, 2008 at 5:18 pm

I am sure N will listen to reasonable complaints about insults but this is blog has freedom of speech some people will make a mistake we can not threaten them, this is simple thing for me

  • 44. ja3far | October 27th, 2008 at 6:36 pm

sadiki kezb… you know very well that this threatening was a figure of speach…
i am not considering using a technology that do allows me to follow the ip adress to get to elie:)

but something for sure, if we were having this dialogue in the street i would have taken my responsability as a gentelman and as a good citisen and taught elie how to behave and to respect other people ..

Naza3ta 2aktar ya 3azizi ja3far this time it is called a “veiled threat” when you now say to elie I can get to you but I will not, this is the same as saying I will get to you, you only put a veil (or tshador) on it ;-)

I think you are insisting on threatening to force the language you want on the blog, I find it unacceptable no matter what elie say to you (I am against insults but I am against censor because I support freedom of speech and let every person show their real thinking and manners)

I can not speak for elie but anyone of us can say something you don’t like ya ja3far and don’t think we can be intimidated, ne7na Ouwet hon ma menkhaf la min IP wala men Rabb Allah taba3 2al IP, hal 7aki even if it is figure of speach should only be used on the street, you can do what you want on the street your problem will be with the police (I am sure they can go to Da7ie because there is no mourabba3 amni as you say right?) but this is not the street.

    hanged for being a christian!!
    what a title!!
if you really believe that he was hanged JUST cause he is a christian , how do u explain the presence of more than 250,000 christian in Iran?
    why arent they all hanged?
just for the record, the christians in Iran has 3 representatives in “Majles EL Shura”..they can drink wine, alcohols, they have their own schools and churches….
these are two articles fromthe iranian constitution:
    Article 13

Zoroastrian, Jewish, and Christian Iranians are the only recognized religious minorities, who, within the limits of the law, are free to perform their religious rites and ceremonies, and to act according to their own canon in matters of personal affairs and religious education.

    Article 14

In accordance with the sacred verse; (”God does not forbid you to deal kindly and justly with those who have not fought against you because of your religion and who have not expelled you from your homes” [60:8]), the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran and all Mu slims are duty-bound to treat non-Muslims in conformity with ethical norms and the principles of Islamic justice and equity, and to respect their human rights. This principle applies to all who refrain from engaging in conspiracy or activity against Islam and the Islamic Republic of Iran
