The Lebanese Forces and Dr. Samir Geagea messed it up big time in the past few weeks.
Two major events occurred in the past two weeks. The memory of Sayidat al Najat bombing and the memory of Zahle battle martyrs.

The Lebanese Forces and Dr. Geagea decision concerning these two events was wrong and somehow insulting (to the families and martyrs).

Sayidet al Najat Mass

The LF and in particular its leader Dr. Geagea should know the significance of such event. Few weeks prior to the Mass, the families of the martyrs traveled to Bchareh and invited Dr. Geagea to the Mass.

Dr. Geagea sent the head of the LF Students body to represent him. Sending “Spiro” (with all respect to him) to the Mass was an insult to the families of the martyrs. An event of this magnitude and what it symbolizes, we can’t send the head of the LF students to represent the LF. Not when Dr. Geagea is free.
When I asked around, I was informed that Dr. Geagea didn’t attend for personal security reasons. I would have understood and accepted that answer. But when I see Dr. Geagea, in Hariri’s memory, standing between millions and shouting “The sea is behind you and the enemy in front of you “ and a week later meeting Prime Minister Siniora to discuss the casino issue, I know for fact it is not a security issue.
It is, at least, a bad decision from the part of Dr. Geagea.

Zahle Martyrs
This passed weekend, the town of Zahle commemorated the Rifa’ who fell defending the town with two Masses. One organised by Al Kataeb (Amin Gemayel section) and one by those who fought the battle of Zahle (Joe Eddeh, Bob Haddad, Jaafari, Fouad Abu Nader, ….).
Amin Gemayel is playing politics, good for him, his Kataeb and what they are doing doesn’t concern me. The LF, decided not to participate officially in any of the Masses.
The first question came to my mind, why the LF didn’t do a Mass? Why it didn’t bring all factions together? The rifa’ who died in Zahle battle, died under the LF flag. The least we can do is to organise a Mass for them. Why we didn’t join the rifa’ who were involved in the battle of Zahle in their Mass?
Regardless of the history between Dr. Geagea and Fouad abu Nader, our martyrs deserve better. It would have been more respectable for the LF to join the Mass done by those who were directly involved in Zahle battle. After all, they were LF before many of us. For sure, they are still LF.
Another disastrous decision made by Dr. Geagea. Joining that mass would have brought the rifa’ close together. What happened to the motto “Lam al Shamil”?
The New LF is making major mistakes. On the long run, the only loser will be the LF.
