Real Federalism
Posted by kezballahLast week I was in Biqa3 I had a very good breakfast and I took this picture, it is a nice Lebanese plate with 3 different type Man2oushe: 1) Za3tar, 2) Jibne, 3) Kishek — They are all Man2oushe but each one is very different taste, color and odeur… I think the Man2ish are living in REAL Federalism they are all Man2oushe but each one keep its own independence and character
The Lebanese can Learn from their Man2oushe I think, we are living in FAKE Federalism we pretend we are not different but in reality we are separated, like on the way to the Biqa3 you pass in Sa3dnayel (they call it Sa3ed-Nayel like Sa3ed Hariri) and then in Ta3lbaya and then in Zahle, you pray they will not start to shoot at each others when you are passing!!
I think if we are honest we can say we are all Lebanese but we are very different so we need to have some independence from each others, if we become more comfortable maybe we will become more friendly with each others, like Man2oushe Za3tar wu Jibne

Anyway, istezna N10452,
Our declaration of independences says thay we are all equal. The message is clear. Lebanon was found on the understanding that DIVERSITY creates strength. So, plz quit playing the same old federalism card, we simply dont think it’ll work. khalik jarib ma ra7 tussal la matra7 i think..

11. kezballah | November 4th, 2008 at 1:34 pm
N I wrote a long comment about this place yesterday but the blog crashed for me…..
OK in summary: This was in Massaya winery you have to make a reservation many days before, it is a brunch they have two ladies (Arab badou) who make the Mana2ich on the Saj and after it they have a buffet.
The food is good but the problem is the buffet method, you have to wait long time in line because people always cheat and come from the side to take the turn in front, they hold 5 plates in one hand!!!!! so you wait until they fill all their plates so your food get cold by the time you go back to your table, then you have to do it again if you don’t want to fill your plate 5 feet high
This FAWDA is a Lebanese problem that even Federalism can not solve
12. kezballah | November 4th, 2008 at 1:43 pm
Doc I am also having a problem to access the blog since a long time ago, you are not the only one….
About Federalism, where did you see since 1000 years in Lebanon that Diversity created strenght? It created killing all the time, why do you have to love me to death all the time, what is wrong iza 7allayto 3an Za3tar taba3na shway
We will keep trying the Federalism card maybe it will never happen in Lebanon but it don’t hurt anyone to try it peacefully isn’t it right?

Is lebanon a 1000 yrs old? Dindt you watch kalem al ness with dr.zalloua ? We’re nothing but bunch of ppl from here and there! bil lebneneh min 2ila : LAMEH! I heard LAU is offering a free test if you’re intersted.
Anyway, the lebanese diversity is the only good thing I discus with my IRAQI,YEMENI,PAKISTANI freinds. 2ino can you imagine lebanon wihout the christians? How about lebanon wihout the muslims? The price of the lebanese democratic way of living is a growing appreciation of people’s differences. Our diversity is our key strength ,it is not best that we all think alike or have the same dreams; it is different of opinion that makes horse race.
Are you still asking me when diversity did create strenght? If you are, then plz look back into the july war and learn from it young fellow. Do you remember how the lebanese ppl welcomed other lebanese(in their houses and schools) in order to protect them form the enemy?
Thank you and allah yehdik..

Doc, ma fihimna shi men shi my old fellow, shou dakhal DNA origins with horse races and the july war? kil shi fhemto minnak inno baddak 2itdall mlazza2 fina, tayyeb ahla wou sahla mish hon mashkal, bass mish baddak minno wou tfou 3le ok?
Diversity exist in all nations today there is nothing special in Lebanon, diversity is great if all groups control themself but it is bad if some groups want to kill the others, in that case you put a border so diversity doesn’t become min 2al 7ubb ma qatal right?
Note: It is not only FPM who receive refugees in the 2006 war, also Kataeb opened many centers, and other non political too. What is the point? This will be the same even if we are two different countries, proof is that also Syria received many refugees from South Lebanon.
Thnk you bass ma fhimna shi men shi, how do you want me to live with it baby?

Now, you either live with it or you leave ya kezballah.. ANA i left it to a different country.. badak tdal bi lebnen than 3yich 2raf lebnen..
PS: stop nagging.
17. kezballah | November 4th, 2008 at 8:42 pm
Doc, why you can’t get somewhere with me, man I just told you where to go so you can eat good Man2oushe and learn about Federalism, isn’t that somewhere good enough? If you want we can even go together
Khayyi I told you diversity 3ala rasi, I don’t like one color, I like all colors, but what if we always have a problem where one color want to control all the painting, what if the yellow want me to TAHHIR NI3I when I mention it, what if the orange want to get help from the yellow color to erase me, what if the green color want to change the painting from Canvas to Silk (harir), what you want me to do?? I am saying let the yellow control where it is, and let me be in control of my fate I don’t want to be erased or diluted from the painting.
That is all ya sadiqi I am not nagging there is a life and death situation here every 10 years we kill each other, the color become red for you and me this is not a small issue for nagging, so why we have to import diversity to Lebanon if we don’t know how to use it yet?? why we don’t go on vacation to the USA in the summer when we want to experience diversity if we don’t know how to do it in Lebanon yet?
I was joking in this article I posted but there is a simple truth that is staring our face and we don’t want to admit it, we want to pretend we are sophisticated but we have nothing to do about diversity, we are a bunch of Yaman, Saudi, Iran, pretending to coexist and forcing ourself to govern each other.

you know kizeb ( by the way i always wondered why someone would call himself kizeb of god ? sorry but it is an ugly name regardless of if you want to make a point about hizbollah ) .. people who used to live on this piece of land use to fight and kill each others since kin3aniyeen and phinicians… that is what history tell us…
i respect your opinion regrding federalism, but i believe the country was divided before it was united and there was war too…
war have happened between people from same religion and same sect and you know that .. i believe in a very simple rool
divided we are week, united we are strong…
i know we have a problem… building trust, and working on joining our diferences …
by the way the yellow you are talking about believe that our strength is in that.. the first thing to do is to try to know each others..the problem is that you really dont know us.. after a while on this blog i noticed how many wrong ideas you have about us..umbelieveble… believe it or not what join us is much more then what seperate us…
salam

Akh ja3far I understand your feeling about my nickname because I also always wondered why a military group would call itself the party of God I also find it ugly, today we say the word Hezbollah we don’t think of it as two words, same with my nickname I don’t think it two words so I don’t mean it as “lie of god” and I don’t mean it except in political critique, not to offense anyone in religion.
About Federalism I agree with you 100% that we are strong if we are united and we are weak if we are divided, but tell me when we were united really before? If we make Mousala7a today it will only keep the fire under the ash, in few months or few years we kill each other again, I am sick of it and I wish I can stop it that is all.
About knowing you believe me I don’t have wrong ideas about other people because I always have open dialogue with other people, but dont you talk politics in Lebanon? Do you know how people talk in politics and how they fight and there is no space for the other opinion, every group want to impose on the other something opposite to them? I think the problem is clear and I think unfortunately what separate us is bigger than what join us (my opinion), I don’t hate the people who want the opposite but I don’t want them to impose it on me, I also don’t want to impose my way on them.
Salam 2ilak
20. ja3far | November 4th, 2008 at 10:56 pm
kezeb… you know any believer in god want to be in his party, the same as any believer in lebanon will want to be in its forces.. but regardless, your name give a complete diferent image of your real personality.. and honesly i always pause for seconds wondering what to call you before each comment
any way , it is your call..
regarding our main subject… our problem as lebanese is the insecurity , weakness and lack of trust towards each others… the first reason that will make someone not listen and impose is his need to be listened to .. in a discussion when someone start raising his voice is a sign of weakness.
as groups and sects in lebanon we have experienced all type of suffering through our history, that is why we tend not to trust anybody and to seek the help of foreigners against each others.. this problem will remain even if we get divided .
i believe the only way we can reach peace and improve our future is to get stronger not weaker ( as used to be said ) … and to unite..
is it possible? i believe it is ..

Mickel thanks bro I really enjoy your analysis also you always think carefully and honestly about important issues, I also like reading ja3far and Doc they have very sophisticated arguments but I think we are all a very small minority in the way we think and the way we talk, go to any dinner in Lebanon and listen to the political discussion (FIGHT) they will kill your apetite
