Two Kataeb supporters were killed and 10 injured after an Elie Skaff supporter delibraly opened fire on the house.

Salim Assi and Nasry Marouni are the victims ( noting that Nasry is the brother of Elie Maroni, head of the Kataeb sector in Zahle).

The Skaff supporters are from the Zouki family and according to some sources, they are the sons of Ibrahim Zouki, Joseph and Neemeh.

May the victims rest in peace.

Sheikh Amine Gemayel called for an urgent Kataeb meeting tonight.

On April 18, 1996 IDF artillery hit a UN compound filled with Lebanese civilians, killing 106 and injuring 116 ( most of the killed were children). Four Fijian United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon soldiers were also seriously injured. [...]

The world condemned this barbaric attack (except the US), but that did not stop Israel from continuing its “Grapes of Wrath” Operation, against the terrorit Hezbollah militia.

Following the attack, Lt.-Gen. Amnon Shahak, Israel’s chief of staff, at a press conference in Tel Aviv on April 18 defended the shelling: “I don’t see any mistake in judgment… We fought Hezbollah there [in Qana], and when they fire on us, we will fire at them to defend ourselves… I don’t know any other rules of the game, either for the army or for civilians…”

Regardless of whether Hebzollah was using the compound as a hideout and the civilians as a human shield ( he did that repeatdly during the 2006 July war), the attack was a barbaric one and Israel should have been punished for it. However, there is another side that should be considered and that will never get those killed civilians any justice, is the fact that the same Hezbollah who is condeming such attacks was supporting similar terrorits attacks 13 years earlier, but this time against the Americans.

On the 18th of April 1983, a suicide bombing was conducted against he US embassy in Beirut, killing 63 people, among them 32 Lebanese and 17 Americans.

What is the difference between this bombing and the Qana ?? None.

What is certain is that the main reason for all Israeli atrocitis in Lebanon for the past 20 years has been Hezbollah, and if you dont remove it, we have no reason to ask for justice and we have every reason to hide when Israelis strike.

The solution ? Disarm Hezbollah’s militia and sign a peace treaty with Israel and let the UN monitor the borders.

After defeating Amine Gemayel in the Last Matn elections and causing a major upset, he meets with Amine and announces days earlier that he regrets going against him …

His aim this time is electing a Maronite president before Michel Suleiman’s time as head of the army expires.
A huge festival was organized in Dbayyeh and another followed in Jbeil yesterday and today more are expected in all regions.

Pressure is building on the Maronite mps from Aoun’s bloc to take a historic step and fill the gap in the presidency !

Will he succeed this time ? Well I dont recall the last time he failed in achieving his goals ( not that i admire his methods) …

And so, while the Lebanese were forced to agree (beginning with the 1969 Cairo Accord) to get beaten up on the head by Israel, other Arabs like Egypt and Jordan officially made peace with the Israeli “enemy”, the Palestinians´ PLO made peace with Israel and returned to Palestine to start a country, and now in broad daylight, Israeli Foreign Minister Livni pays a visit to Qatar and speaks at a trade and democracy convention there. Mind you, this is the tip of the iceberg. It is true that i keep critisizing the mistakes done by the government and the M14 group and the incompetence of many many officials and the security forces, and peope ask me why dont i do something about it ?

Well, i hope this post answers your question, because it truly reflects the level of passivness and incompetence we are experiencing. No politics involved though, simply very basic road safety indications that no one bothers to apply.

The picture taken is from the Dbayyeh Maritime road that hundreds if not thousands of cars use everyday to get to Beirut, and you can spot from the picture a sidewalk with a man performing his morning walk .. while a van and other cars behind it ( not showing), decided to take a shortcut and use the sidewalk as another lane on the highway !!!!

Imagine someone jogging in the morning and having to watch out for crazy drivers coming at full speed on the sidewalk !!

Surprinsingly though, not only the policemen did not bother to stop them ( they were 100 meters away only), but i see a policeman on his harley using the sidewalk as well !!

What can i do here ?
Close the road myself ? they ll probably jail me ..
Yell at those passing on the sidewalk ? I ll get involved in a fight and god knows which one is them has a gun.
Yell at the policemen ?? No thank you ..

Post about it ? definitly !

However, i will inform a friend of mine who happens to be a policeman to do something, but i doubt it ll last…

I was watching Kalam el Nass “Bassel Fleihan” special episode tonight and what caught my attention most was a young lady from Australia named Rebecca Samarani who won a price on her research on implementing the federal system in Lebanon ..

Her proposal was way more different and daring and interesting than others this year, in fact one proposed that we have more public gardens and parks and the other was on social security ..

Even though Rebecca did not advocate her proposal properly, i am glad Marcel hosted her and promoted Federalism.

I wish we could get a copy on her paper .
Anyone knows her back in Australia ?

Dr.Geagea will be visiting for the first time ( if am not mistaken) Mayfou2 and holding meetings with LFers from Batroun, as well as Fadi Saad, Bahij Abboud & Paul Andari ( author of Al Jabal 7akeeka la tar7am & hazihi Chahadati books).

The event will take place on Sunday the 20th of April in Mayfou2, however there is no mention to Hakim meeting with the Ilige league, the one that worked hard fo years to keep the LF mass alive and worked days and nights to restore the Church and the Martyrs’ graves.

I truly hope a reconciliation will finally occur, but i highly doubt it.

I’d rate i 4.5/5, even though it deserves a 5 but maybe then Aounimal will consider himself God of all jouras as well, apart from the godly title he gave himself in lebanese politics ..

As for its location, on the maritime road near Dbayyeh.

Earlier last week, reports were made by few people (Jacqueline Elias al-Rai, Milad al-Rai and Joseph Abi Sharr) and a journalist Manal Shaayaa about a mass grave in Halat, and as soon as the authorities were alerted, digging started looking for that mass grave and yesterday it was announced no mass grave was found.

Noting that Halat was mainly an LF controlled region, and that Aounist mps (Shamel Mouzaya and Abbas Hashem) who apparently were backing up that search, were dissapointed of the result and even doubted the seriouness of the digging operation.

Even though i dont find it hard to believe that Aounists must be spreading rumors, what caught my attention was Ghazi Aad’s reaction who reassured that the grave existed and that the search was unprofessionally directed ..

Is there or is there not a grave ??
I am not sure we will ever find it, however i do support that all mass graves are revealed once and for all, so those innocent people rest in peace once and for all .

As for Aoun’s reaction, i wish he spent more time revealing the mass graves of his soldiers that the Syrians left as he was fleeing to the French embassy like a coward.

Une petite phrase qui, plus d’un demi-siècle plus tard, n’a rien perdu de son acuité. Dans le cadre de ces mêmes conférences du Cénacle, Hamid Frangié apportait peut-être un élément de réponse en soulignant que « la direction des collectivités ne peut s’assumer sans l’engagement d’une petite élite » ; une perception que semblait partager Georges Naccache qui relevait l’importance pour les élites de jouer un « rôle de médiation entre le peuple et le chef ».

Force est de préciser que le pays est aujourd’hui confronté, entre autres problèmes, à une grave crise dont pâtit l’élite libanaise. Celle-ci est, de fait, pratiquement écrasée, dans une large mesure marginalisée, par le poids de leaders omnipotents ou de partis aux relents totalitaires et quasi fascistes. Cela est le cas dans les principales communautés du pays, mais la crise se fait ressentir particulièrement en milieu chrétien, déchiré entre deux courants ayant opté pour des choix politiques foncièrement contradictoires.

La crise subie par l’élite chrétienne est d’abord le résultat de l’absence d’esprit d’institution dans la plupart, sinon la quasi-totalité, des partis et courants qui mènent le jeu sur la scène chrétienne. L’action politique y est le fait d’un chef, d’un leader, incontesté – et très peu contestable – qui se fait seconder par un cercle très restreint et fermé de collaborateurs dont le rôle se limite, le plus souvent, à celui de suiveurs, d’exécutants des décisions et des choix pris par le chef. Pas d’approche à caractère institutionnel, par d’alternance possible, donc, au niveau de ces courants et partis, mais plutôt une personnalisation poussée à l’extrême de l’action politique. À cette faille structurelle viennent s’ajouter des failles humaines, encore plus lourdes de conséquences : l’orgueil, l’égocentrisme, l’ambition outrancière et démesurée, les susceptibilités personnelles de certains chefs et leaders influent souvent sur le cours de certains événements beaucoup plus qu’on ne le pense.

Tent City Militiamen Attack Restaurant Clients

MP Atef Majdalani on Monday accused militiamen deployed at the Hizbullah-controlled Tent City in downtown Beirut of attacking with daggers clients at a nearby restaurant wounding some of them.
Majdalani, in a statement, said the restaurant clients were attacked Saturday evening by “militiamen based in the tents.”

The victims, according to Majdalani, sought police help but were told the area is off limits to law enforcing agencies.

The Hizbullah-led opposition set up Tent City in downtown Beirut 16 months ago with the declared objective of toppling Premier Fouad Saniora’s government that remains in office.

I was reading an article on Tayyar about the secrets of the civil war that were shared by a Mourabitoun old fighter ..
Even though it is quite interesting, i reached a point where they asked him to describe many personalities who lived and influenced this period in one word.

And to my surprise, almost all major names were mentioned except Michel Aoun !

As we continue our quest for Lebanon’s best joura, we reach the 3rd joura today, located on the highway between Antelias and Jal el Dib. It is in the middle of the highway, has been there for years now and no one bothered to fix it.

It could deviate the car if you are going fast, it doesnt look that big but it will harm the car or cause it to slide in winter or when going fast.

On this occasion, I recommend this year that everyone watchs the movie entitled : Zozo.

It is a story of a Lebanese boy who lost all his family and left Lebanon to Sweden in the middle of the war. It was directed in 2005 by Josef Fares and won many awards.

This movie says it all and hopefully made the Lebanese realize how horrific is a civil war for us and for our children and families

I keep asking again and again the same question to HA members and whomever defends them and i never get a clear answer but instead subjective replies on how cruel and mean is Israel !

My question is simple :
If Hezbollah & Palestinian armed groups did not exist, why would Israel attack us ?

Lets talk dates and facts then ..

Ironically in 1948, after Israel proclaimed its independance, five Arab countries tried to attack Israel and put an end to it before it starts, among them Lebanon.

Did Israel attack us back then ?? I dont think so ..

As a result of their failure, Palestinians fled everywhere and settled first in Jordan, until 1970, when their resistance was crushed by the Jordanian king (Black September). Next thing we know PLO settles in Lebanon and starts its operations against Israel.

Israel decides to retaliate and in 1978, Operation Litani is launched.

25,000 Israeli troops invaded southern Lebanon on March 14, 1978 in a campaign to drive the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) out. This attack was in response to PLO raids into northern Israel from their bases in southern Lebanon.

Why did Israel attack us ?? PLO !

In 1981, same scenario .. Israel bomb PLO targets in Lebanon as a response to the attacks by the PLO.

1982: Operation Galilee
Israel begins a massive offensive in response to two major terrorist acts ( bombing of a bus in North-Israel, assassination attempt against Shlomo Argov). Israel invades Lebanon and reaches Beirut, destroys the PLO and goes back out.

In 1986, Hezbollah starts its attacks against Israel ..

As a result, in 1993:
Israel launches Operation Accountability directed against Hezbollah.
It lasted a week

In 1996, Operation Grapes of Wrath
Israel launches a massive offensive in response to the rockets sent by HA against Israeli villages.

In 2006, Hezbollah kidnapps 2 Israeli soldiers within the Israeli borders.
As a result, Israel starts a destructive 34 days war against Lebanon

Those are the major headlines, many minor attacks occured as a response to Hezbollah operations.

Israel is a monster, Israel is evil, Israel has no respect for human rights, Israel is run by racists and Zionists !!

Those are the types of replies i will be getting now, simply because some people are too blind to see Israel has lost its interest long time ago in invading Lebanon .. in fact It never showed any interest in invading it in the first place…

Lets assume i agree on the labelings of Israel i just listed.

I took my time to re-read all the comments on my previous post in order to answer everyone in the most comprehensible way …

However, i’ve noticed that many replies were more instinctful and immature, as if it is forbidden to speak ur mind when it comes to the HUGE mistakes being done on the LF level. Let me clarify again and again to all those Aounists, Snoopies (SSNP) and all those 8-March supporters out there :

I will always stand behind the 14 March principles and the Cedars Revolution, i will always support the LF ideology ( the one i know and was raised on), and i will always critisize those who are on this same path but committing mistakes. One comment caught my attention ( By Anonymous) as to changing the blog and quitting the LF ..

I do not belong to the LF Party, never said i did .. i support the LF thought and project and i defended Samir Geagea’s cause .. however the New Hakim and the new LF are not the ones i used to defend, they changed their political line and are doing mistakes ( in my opinion mistakes) and not regretting them ..

It is my right to keep this blog running and critisize whomever i want, the LF does not belong to anyone … the LF to me can be resumed in 3 things:
-The Cause
-The Martyrs
-Federalism

As for All other parties, they are not worthy my time nor any true Lebanese’s time when it comes to critics, their goal is crystal clear and that is destroying Lebanon and weakening its Christians. I will not include Aoun here, however he is even worse than all those, he is unintentionally destroying us for his own selfish goals and cares less whether we make it or not, as long as it gets him to presidency.
He is a megaloman and a clown and a virus spread in our community that we should have eliminated long time ago !

Back to the questions :

1- Adwan is the VP of the New LF, whatever he says Geagea agreed on previously, and every word he says counts. He should know better how to choose his words, if he cant, dont choose him as ur VP.

2- We are no one’s ally in any regional conflict, We fought our asses off and had thousands of martyrs to keep Lebanon’s Cause its 10452 wou bass … We want a neutral Lebanon !!

3- Being smart in politics is one thing and changing major guidelines and principles is a TOTAL different thing.
Hayda tazeke mich zaka !

4- Those who are trying to defend Adwan’s point and telling me i misinterpreted his words, probably should read the tons of mistakes i ve posted in the past few months, speeches and Press releases done by LF officials … wou la 7ayat liman tounadi !

Finally, i thank all the impolite and disrespectful people for their insults, it truly shows what you are made of .. again & again !

Today the families of Lebanese arbitrarly arrested in Syria celebrated the third anniversary for their open sit in in Beirut.

The LF was no where to be seen in this event.

If the families of Lebanese in Syrian prisons you are not going to support then there is no 3atab on everything you come up with.

Nisyo that we have prisoners in syria, nisyo their families. Zaman ……

I am truly surprised how a comment such as this passes without anyone replying or without even Hakim clarifying or correcting it …

I am truly outraged as an LFer and as a Christian and as a Lebanese to hear such horrific statements by the LF VP, Mr.Georges Adwan !! I am not sure what LF is that ! Shame shame shame !!

How is Mr.Adwan allowed to change principles thousands of martyrs died for and that Hakim himself got jailed for ??
The LF since its foundation has asked for Lebanon to stay neutral and away from all regional conflicts and has fought specifically to keep the Palestinian Cause In Palestine and not make Lebanon a battlefield for the whole region !!

We are Syria’s allies in its fight with Israel ??? That is the biggest load of crap i’ve heard from an LF official in years !!

I ask you again :

Is this the new LF ? Is Dr.Geagea ok with the above statement ??
Who gave Adwan the authority to change our historical line ??

If it were up to me, i would kick him out immediatly from the LF and have him apologize !!

If Hakim doesnt reply to that or correct it, i am afraid i will have to change Samir Geagea tej raskoun to “Ken tej rasoun” cause i do not know if this is the same person i defended and stood for before.
