27 years : wou ma tghayyar chi …

Tuesday, September 15th, 2009

5 sneen wou ma tghayyar chi …
10 sneen wou ma tghayyar chi …
20 sene wou ma tghayyar chi … etc ..

Nothing has changed since Bashir was assassinated as if history stopped for us Christians and for Lebanon back then. Young People still worship him and listen to his speeches continuously, his close comrads after those long years can’t help it but drop a tear at his memory and last but not least his enemies & his killers can’t stand the fact that he is very much alive after 27 years and hate him more & more …

Every September of every year, we get a group of snoopies (SSNP) readers writing posts direspectful to Bashir’s memory and to his person and use the same old cliche arguments.

I will allow myself for the nth time to answer their claims just to humiliate them further in front of everyone here:

- Ehden was a military operation agreed on by the Kataeb council ( not headed by Bashir back then) and with only purpose to arrest those who killed in cold blood Joud el Baye3.

- Safra operation was a military one blessed by Camille Chamoun and with only purporse to unify the guns and get rid of the thugs which were troubling the internal scene.

- Black Saturday: No one has ANY proof whatsoever of Bashir’s involvement in it. He was too young and had barely few men under his command (BG).

- Zahle 1981: go read your history and stop being an ignorant. Go read what Bashir did to Lebanon that year in the USA, which forced Syria to withdraw ..

Now for the last time nadeem wou mai wou ghayrkoun, if you cannot respect Bashir or argue about him politely, you are not welcome herel

The Armenian candidate’s seat in Beirut I: Solomon’s Baby

Thursday, May 21st, 2009

It is with great regret that I received the news today about the withdrawal of our charismatic Armenian Catholic candidate, Richard Koyoumjian, from the race in Beirut I.

Dr. Kouyoumjian has been involved in the Lebanese Forces for the past three decades. He enrolled during the days of Bashir and remained committed during the days of Samir by means of his involvement in the works and lobbying of the Diaspora in Washington D.C.

His candidacy unfolded naturally and his role seemed to fit like a glove. Not only did he represent the spirit of Ashrafieh and its Christian diversity, he also represented the young competent idealist that many Lebanese Forces supporters have been longing for recently.

However one big obstacle came in the way. It was the incumbent MP, Serge Tor Sarkissian, who was running again for the position. Regardless of what Ashrafieh represents for Serge or how good he is with his opportunistic skills, it seems that a deal had to be brokered in total fairness with the principles of the Cedar Revolution.

Not that Dr. Kouyoumjian did not represent the Armenians – in fact he succeeded in representing both Armenians and Non-Armenian Christians – but the unwritten agreement with the Armenians is that they choose their candidates just like March 8 Armenians get to choose their candidates.

Again, this doesn’t mean that the March 14 Armenians do not want Dr. Kouyoumjian. Instead we had to deal with a self-indulgent candidate who, throughout his 9 year tenure, did not learn, it seems, on the importance of compromising for the sake of the nation.

When the mature decision makers of the Lebanese Forces, more specifically Dr. Geagea and Dr. Kouyoumjian, realized they were facing a stubborn irresponsible person who had his personal interests at stake, they had to take a responsible decision.

According to the Ancient Testament, two women who were arguing over who was the true mother of a child, came to Solomon seeking his wise judgment. When he offered to divide the child in two with a sword, the true mother was revealed when she showed compassion and decided to give up the child rather than see him hurt.

Once again – and why should we be surprised? –, the Lebanese Forces conceded an important asset for the sake of the success of the Cedar Revolution. This should not at all reveal weakness but rather grandeur. The LF could have pursued the race for its own sake unilaterally – and even then, we would have had great chances to win. But being the true mother of the cause, it decided to sacrifice.

Dr. Kouyoumjian hasn’t left us as he has been appointed by Dr. Geagea as the LF’s official spokesperson for the elections. What happened today is something we shouldn’t be ashamed of but rather proud.

For the speech of Richard Kouyoumjian assuming responsibility of the decision with great nobility, please click on the following link:

The voice of a commander and statesman: Bashir Gemayel

Thursday, October 2nd, 2008

Here is a nice article on Bashir Gemayel i recommend to all.

The voice of a commander and statesman: Bashir Gemayel
by Pete Ajamian

September, 2008. Bashir Gemayel, the leader of the Lebanese Forces (LF) militia and former Lebanese president-elect, had a vision to deliver Lebanon from the ashes of its civil war, leading some to dub him “The Phoenix.”ii Others have described him as being ruthless and convinced that he could reform and save Lebanon from the ravages of war.iii Regardless of one’s interpretations of Gemayel’s motives, he developed a larger than life persona whose voice still resonates with the hopes and aspirations of a bygone era.

This multimedia feature aims to illustrate how Gemayel articulated his vision through media and the spoken word, and how these techniques developed over his political career. It covers Gemayel’s career spanning from the days of the LF as a burgeoning military force mobilizing against the Syrian Army and PLO to its apex during the days of Gemayel’s short-lived foray into Lebanese presidential politics. Gemayel’s rhetoric is characterized by heavy repetition of key phrases, a wide dynamic range, and use of characters to personify larger trends. Yet over the course of his career, the tone and appeals used varied widely according to political context, the audience and Gemayel’s changing political and military role.

Sheikh Nadim Gemayel’s speech

Sunday, September 14th, 2008

Here is a link to Sheikh Nadim’s speech.

I loved it, but wished he had included the Salafist threat to Lebanon and critisized the March 14 politics as well, not just Hezbollah.

Other than that, we need action and not talk, the future will tell anyway.

Living up to Bashir’s standards ..

Saturday, September 13th, 2008

Bashir’s posts are the hardest to write to be honest, i’ve been thinking for almost half an hour about how to start this post, but i’ve failed so far, but then maybe not introducing Bashir says a lot about this great man.

What else can be said about El Bach ??

He represents everything no Lebanese politican was, is or will ever be.

Neither the old class of politicians, nor the new class and definitly not the future generations to come will have any Bashir in it, he was a golden opportunity sent by God at a specific time and specific place to save this country, but was assassinated by men ironically on the 14th of September, which happens to be the Feat of the Triumph of the Cross.

I will take this opportunity to answer many readers who tell me that i critisize a lot and almost everything, and tell them that all my critics are not based on a personal need to do so, but on standards set by Bashir and that i will never allow myself to lower them at any cost.

When i nag about disorganization in the LF, its because its there.
When i nag about violating the LF principles, its because its happening.
When i nag about disrespecting the martyrs & turning their masses into political festivals, just watch tomorrow’s mass and the one next week and you will understand me.

When i nag about becoming dhimmists, its because Bashir fought & struggled to keep us away from dhimmitude.

On this 26th year of Bashir’s martyrdom, i would like to address Sheikh Nadim Gemayel whom i met on several occasions and saw in him Bachir’s honesty and innocence, and every young Lebanese who looks up for Bashir as a role model.

Bashir was not knowledgeable in politics & history as much as many politicians were.
Bashir did not take sessions on religions and leadership to get into politics.
Bashir did not wait for others to take initiatives.

Bashir followed his heart and his passion for his country and his Cause, and got himself surrounded by the most intelligent and credible people out there, and took the best out of them and reached the top and most importantly kept them aside him and welcomed any newbie who wished to help.

Camille Chamoun, Charles Malek, Fouad Frem el Boustani, Antoine Najm, Zahi Boustani and many many others are what drove Bashir to the top.

What is required from each of us is to look up to people smarter & more capable than us, learn from them and do better, and this mentality unfortunatelly does not exist in our society anymore. Start from your schools, your universities, your work, your life and we will have 100 000 Bashirs not just 60000.

One last word, may all those who fell with Bashir and all our martyrs rest in peace.

More on Posters and Banners

Saturday, August 30th, 2008

N was faster than me about the LF posters on the highway and I felt exactly the same about the ones of Jesus and Mary (sorry Abollam and Jim but I didn’t like this), but the design is great for the other personalities, this picture of Sheikh Bashir I took in Zouk Mosbe7 opposite Irani, I loved seeing Camille Chamoun and Pierre Gemayel and Charles Malek all of them great personalities that we miss seeing and hearing about them since the Syrian scum try to erase their memory.

But I also want to answer some honest and intelligent questions from our friend Readers on the blog about posters of Bashir that he asked in the other article about BG poster in Achrafieh, the question was what does Bashir mean to us LFers and why we enjoy seeing his posters what is the achievement in hanging a poster, this is an important question.

For me it is very simple and always was simple, Bashir for me is not a rock star, he is a symbol of two things, my security and my dignity.  Yes Bashir wanted to save all Lebanon 10452 but he also always worried about his community and region, he worked to give me security from the crazy projects of the Arabs and many Lebanese parties in 1975, like today with Hezbollah and Chi3a yesterday it was the PLO and 7araka Watania and the Sunni, just because I don’t want to sacrifice my country for the Palestine cause I am treated like a traitor and unwanted guest in this country, Bashir stood up to this and the LF turned the table on these crazy projects, today we are still fighting the same problem, they are holy and we are second class citizen if we mention their militia we have to clean our mouth and stay below their belt ETC.. Well guess what it will not fly because we are here to stay and this crazy ignorance of Hezbollah and Salafiyin will not last.

So what is the achievement in putting the poster, for me it is only to remember that many great people sacrificed their life so this country stays and doesn’t become like Palestine, many young men and women gave their life so Lebanon can have a chance to survive and Lebanese can have security and dignity.  These martyrs we have to honor them every day and keep their picture in our heart, and sometimes we have to remind the others about them with a poster or a conference or documentary, they gave everything for us.
