I understand one thing and I do not understand another.

I understand and I learned that: The beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

What I do not understand is how almost a year ago the Lebanese Parliament unanimously approved a proposal to lower the voting age to 18 from 21 and this week the Parliament shot down a bill to lower voting age from 21 to 18.

What I do not understand how some say that the group age 18-20 should not be allowed to vote because they are not responsible, they lack correct judgment, …..
Yet these people are allowed to drive, drink alcohol (2 important things that can affect lives more than electing an ijer kirseh).

What is more fascinating is that all political parties target this students from early adolescent years (14 and up) in schools. They work on them and make them politcally active in their schools.
In addition, they call on them for every demonstration, event, ….

If you can count on them in these above things that I mentioned, then you should trust their votes.

This leads to the real question, do you not want them to vote because they are not politcally mature or you are afraid of the Muslim vote?
I hope we have leaders in Lebanon that can answer this question in a very honest way without BSing their followers that the other side “ija la 3ina” and we “coexist” and “Taef” is the base.

My honest reply to the question I asked is that yes Christians are afraid of Muslim votes, yes “ijo la 3ina” was a lie, yes there is no such thing as coexisting and yes Taef is a disaster and federalism is the solution

From all of those who were surprised and upset from seeing Hezbollah celebrating Imad Mughniyeh and others of their martyrs in jdeideh, the Lebanese Forces and its followers should be the least suprised.
You may say what is wrong with this Mano? It happens that Mano and few others have a very good memory and they do not forget. So this few should be the only one opposing, upset, surprised (well in reality with such people there is no more room for surprises) of Hezbollah even in Jdeideh (note for those (frafir el LF these days) who do not know Jdeideh, jedeideh been a stronghold for the SSNP).
What is worst, having a Hezbollah event in Jedeideh or having Samir Geagea sending Geoges Adwan (his MP) to welcome the criminal quntar and hugging him?
What is worst, having this event in Jdeideh or accepting HA weapons, making it legal and be part of a government that protects the “resistance”?
Again, only few should raise their concern, the rest who attacked those who criticize Geagea decisions (quntar, be part of government that supports HA weapons) should simply pack up and go play in another park.

If we go back in time to the mid 70’s to early 90’s, as LF, we used to preach, work, had many projects and ideas to turn Lebanon to a state where Christians from the region can look at as a beacon of light, hope and bright future. We used t work on projects hoping that one day we will bring those Christians to Lebanon and provide them with security and peace.
I still remember Charles Malek, Fouad Frem Boustany , ….among others. I still remember the Lebanese Front …. The LF with Bachir and Samir (the old one and not the one he burried in the ministry of defece).
I was emailed this picture by an old time rafi’ and we both were shocked, surprised, sick, …. you name it.
Is this is the new “I3dad Fikri” in the LF? What a shame and what an end to great project.

N10452 said in earlier posts, we have a person from Nadim Gemayel team who is willing to answer questions on issues related to Nadim and elections.
The following is taken from Michael Young editorial in Daily Star, 19 March 2009:
“In 2007, Marcel Ghanem hosted a program commemorating the 25th anniversary of the assassination of Bashir Gemayel, the late Lebanese Forces leader who in 1982 was the president-elect for a mere three weeks. Invited on the show was Nadim, Bashir’s son and today a candidate for the Achrafieh constituency. Ghanem asked Nadim what the Taif Accord meant to him, and his answer told us a great deal about the mindset in the Maronite community. “Taif means Christian surrender,” he replied.”
Today Nadim is running on Kataeb ticket that supports Taef agreement and he is proud to be an LF ally who also are Taef agreement supporters. How can Nadim run with a party, ally with another and be part of March 14 and they all support and back Taef while in his own words he said :“Taif means Christian surrender”. ?

I was waiting for any LF member and supporter to tackle this news. But it seems either they support the decision of the LF or they are extremely ashamed to talk about it and afraid of spreading the news.

Well here it is. I will not talk to much about it, I will add one sentence:
What a DISGRACE. Samir Geagea has no right to take the LF in this direction. If he has a debt to pay to Saad Hariri, he should pay it from his own pocket. Samir Geagea must resign as head of the LF and go enjoy his life.”

تحفظ means reservation. Today 2 LF ministers Tahafazou (with reservation) on the new government manifesto. A manifesto that gave Hizballah the right to resist, stock and use weapons, …. Again it gave Hizballah the label of resistance.
After all this time, the LF threatening, the LF screaming, the LF shaking its finger in the face of others, LF leader Mr. Samir Geagea saying the resistance word will not pass, he will not accept Hizballah weapons, …. the record that we all heard in the past year. Let us not forget the wonder LF deputy, the hutington graduate Zahra and his daily media political ijtirar.
At the end the LF Thafadit (تحفض means put on a diaper) and not Tahafazit. Thafadit and didn’t resign.
This is another proof of the total collapse of the LF and its political leadership. After all these years of resistance and due to political deals done to free Geagea from prison, the LF thafadit.
