My only two wishes for Lebanon this year ..

1- That we have a Lebanon left by the end of 2008.

2- That we have Lebanese left in Lebanon by the end of 2008.

Happy New Year to you all.

This has been an outgoing problem since ages, and still no one is giving it any attention …

I went to Faraya 3 times in the past 2 weeks, the road is just horrible … lots of works on the sides or even in the middle of the road, lousy roads, bumps, potholes everywhere ( and not just any potholes, big immense ones that will mess up your whole car not just the tyres).

A large percent of the youth spends New Year’s eve at Faraya, renting chalets and spending 2 or 3 nights up there.
A large number of them as well comes back late at night after the party to drive their gfs or simply to get back home.

The rate of accidents on that night in late hours is very high and most of them are deadly ones.

The simplest thing to do is to put signs and bumps to keep the cars from going too fast on such dangerous roads, it costs nothing and will save tons of lifes ..

I am sure this will go as another lost case i post about, but i cant help not seeing how wrong this is and not point it out ..

The simplest things could save people’s lives, and no one bothers considering them ..

I am seriously considering wasting my next new year to set up road signs and slow down signs and awareness campaigns for the New Year’s weekend …

To my brothers and Sisters in our Country.

I am the age of Lebanon under occupation. Thirty years ago I was born in Rass Beirut and my family lived and worked in Hamra. Today I live in the United States in exile from my country.

It is hard to explain to people that have not spent their entire lives in a war, what it means to live with a burning hope. what it means to dream of independence, what it means to be wiser than your years.

I know that many of us are young and passionate about a cause. many of us have heard stories of battles and bombings and heroes. Many of us believe that we have an opinion that is right and will fight with all our might for what we believe in.

I also know that we are the children of a nation that has been boiling beneath the surface. A nation that has been suppressed by violent means. A nation that has been robbed of its dignity, its rights, its respect.

With all this struggle, I also know that we are the beating heart of Lebanon.we are the torch bearers of those heroes we have heard of. We are the seeds of those battles that were fought for our preservation. We are the fruits of all the families who struggled beneath inhuman conditions against all odds, and despite all foes.

We, my brothers and Sisters, ARE LEBANON

And We will be the ones who will Liberate it.

I am not speaking this because I have given up the fight, ON THE CONTRARY ” I HAVE ONLY JUST BEGUN” . I am not saying this because I have no courage, ON THE CONTRARY ” I WILL NOT FEAR, . I am not saying this because I want you to be proud, ON THE CONTRARY, I KNOW YOU ARE.

I am saying this because THIS IS THE TRUTH.

We are the vanguard of this nation. We are the memory of our parents of our ancestors, of those who died at the hands of infamy and at the gates of tyranny. We are the result of every soul who passed before us in the mountains and valleys and shores of our Nation.

as a Lebanese fighter said

The aspirations of our Martyrs was entrusted to us.

This is our cause and this is our banner.

Today, Lebanon calls to its fighters, calls to its citizens , calls to its diaspora. We have to answer its call. We have to shout out the message, We have to keep the flame burning.

TO ALL THOSE KEEPING THE CAUSE IN OUR BELOVED LEBANON TODAY,

WE SAY OUT LOUD

WE ARE BEHIND YOU, WE WILL SUPPORT YOU, WE WILL HONOR YOU

AND ABOVE ALL ELSE

WE ARE HERE TO STAY

your fellow countryman

Lebanonjon

Dr.Geagea is having an interview right now on New TV with George Salibi ..

Here is a small resume of what he is saying :

Dr.Geagea accuses Berri of siding with Syria and ignoring 14 March demands.
Dr.Geagea : Those who are supporting March 8 are behind all the assassinations.
Dr.Geagea : Hezbollah has strategical goals that exceed Lebanon and reach Pakistan and other countries.
Dr.Geagea : If we dont vote a president within 2 weeks, i will ask to vote for a president with the 50+1
majority.
Dr.Geagea : Aoun’s decision is not in his hands.

Dr.Geagea : I invite Aoun for a meeting on the presidency issue.

Dr.Geagea : Some people seem to forget Patriach Sfeir is a religious figure.

Dr.Geagea : I see a bright future for M14 as a political group.

I was wondering the other day if Michel Aoun died (heaven forbid and Lebanon got lucky), what would happen to the FPM?

Here are the following scenarios I could come up with

1. Followers of Micho would commit mass suicide as they are doing now by following him while he’s alive.

2. Ibrahim Kenaan would get the popular support he deserves: 3 people

3. The FOUR PRINCIPLES OF AOUNISM and THE FPM would endure : 1. Hating Samir Geagea 2. Hating Saad Hariri 3. Making bad decisions 4. Bad Photoshopping Skills

4. The FPM would morph right back into the SSNP , which is what it really is in the first place only with alot more followers

5. Aoun would come back since he is on par with Jesus and if Jesus could do it, so can the GENERAL

6. The FPM might actually find a consistent position politically , something they were never able to do under General Orangutan

7. The FPM would be confused as to who to hate more : Geagea or Hariri, and self destruct

8. Lebanon would get hit by the Plague right after his death because nothing good can happen to Lebanon without something fucking it up immediately thereafter.

9. The FPM would wrap his body with a big sheet printed with the MOU and burn him ( sorry I just had to fantasize here for a second)

10. The FPM would wake up from their zombie like state and go back to being regular foufous and Nounous

What took them so long ?? Time has shown that the only way to negociate Syrians and their allies is by imposing your will and pressure them as much as possible .. This is what Sanioura did by voting for an amendment of the constitution to elect Sleiman and this is what should have been done long time ago ..

Hezbollah seemed confused by this move and directly threatened .. empty threads though since Syria ‘warned’ the so-called Resistance of getting dragged into a civil war, and being armed, any wrong move from their side will get them into a chaotic status ..

What should happen next ?

Berri should be ignored if he cant hold a session, M14 asks Maccary to take over and order a session where Sleiman is voted President …

Enough fooling around, Aoun is a ‘vaurien’, Berri is a P.O Box and Hezbollah’s threats will only fire back at them …

Tony Blair, newly minted Catholic: What took him so long?
The Roman Catholic Church has a new member, and he is isn’t just another, would-be choir boy.

Last Friday, in a private ceremony in London, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair left the Anglican Church (the Church of England founded by King Henry VIII in the 1500s after he broke with the Pope in Rome) and converted to Catholicism. The politician who led Britain into war with George W. Bush in Iraq in the face of emphatic protests from his countrymen “was received into full communion with the Catholic Church by Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O’Connor, Archbishop of Westminster….” (Times)

On Behalf of the ouwet.com team, i want to wish you a merry christmas to you and your family.

I find Christmas to be a special day, a joyful one no matter what happens, the family gathering, the gifts and prayers at midnight all make of that day a magical one.

Merry Christmas, Joyeux Noel and BRIKH MAWLODE D’MORAN ( in syriac) to all.

Otv in collabration with Manar TV and UMMA Films presents the next generation in talent shows :

AN MOU PRODUCTION

THE “SYRANIAN” IDOL

A select panel of religious/talent judges will decide if you get to be the next SYRANIAN IDOL.

With all the hoopla surrounding American Idol, it was only natural for the UMMA to have its very own Idol as well.

Note: The following program has been reviewed by the ethics and morals police for religious ligitimacy.

Do you hate Israel?? Is democracy getting you down?? Did you chant ” Al Mowtou li Amrika ” as a little child.

YOU MIGHT BE THE NEXT SYRANIAN IDOL !!!

Join thousands in a talent show that will shake Zionism to its knees. Camp in tents downtown and feel the vibrancy of it all. Sing and Chant and shake your body. Dress for the occasion from head to toe. This competition will make you sweat !!

The Judges:

Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah : (Sayyed will be joining us through live video feed as his current whereabouts are unknown while he prepares for the next great production) This famous producer is known for his massive musical productions in live open air venues. His choreography and musical instincts are second to none. From the perfect arm raises to the impeccable chants of ” AL MOWTOU LI ISRAEEEEEL” , Sayyed will keep you on your toes like the great religious judge that he is. A NO from him, and you are finished. A YES and you might win an MoU

General Michel Aoun: Boys and Girls be careful ! You never know what this judge is thinking nor what grade he will give you next. GMA will keep you guessing throughout the show. Remember this is the Man who created the huge open air concert of Baabda Palace in 1988 and lately was responsible for the Orange Zombies group and the huge coutrywide Musical Demonstration called Burning Wheels of Glory. Don’t get on his bad side cause he will verbally cut you down like a tsunami.

Sleiman Franjieh: Contestants watch out!! . Sleiman will be watching you. He is judging you on ability to carry a tune and he is the expert. Sleiman has been singing the syrian song since early childhood where he learned from his daddy and granddaddy. Sleiman likes the ladies, so wear your sexiest outfit and you might get a thumb up somewhere.

Nabih Berri: Watch out for this brutal judge !!. He controls the voting system and by golly if he doesn’t like you he will shut the whole system down. Nabih is going to judge you on your ability to express hope in your chants. Naturally he has headed a production group called “AMAL” that has churned out syranian artists for decades. If he decides against you, then you have no HOPE.

Emile Lahhoud: Prepare yourself cause this man is a KILLER!. Emile Lahhoud was the co-executive producer of the largest fireworks ever detonated downtown that wowed the whole population. His military background in swimming gives him insight into your athletic ability. Gentlemen wear your Speedos!!, Emile will be checkin you out throughout your performance.

SPECIAL GUEST JUDGES:

Wi’am Wahhab : Wi’am will judge you on etiquette and politesse.
Imad Moughniyyeh: Imad will judge you on timing and impact

RULES AND REQUIREMENTS FOR QUALIFICATION

Micho oh Micho whats in your basket?
The million dollar question if we dare ask it

Do you have a clear plan to destroy the nation?
Or is it your fucked up brain on some new medication?

It has always been nauseating to hear you talk
Even more so since you started doing the syrian walk

It was just Bashar who was singing your praise
Now Shar3 and Mouallem chant the chorus these days

But knowing you well, you thrive on attention
You couldn’t care less about their intention

Why should you care , you never did before
From revolutionary leader to a syrian whore

And just the other day you dropped all pretenses
Your lunatic voice was an abuse to our senses

You said that the oposition and syria have a similar demand
And there will be no president without your command

You believe that hizballah has appointed you too
Its clear to them also, that you ain’t got a clue

You are just a little peon in their big evil plot
They put you right in it like they were filling a slot

A big christian cover to the Shiite dominion
Though Hassouna never called to ask your opinion

But why should you care, or have apprehension
Of matters beyond your weak comprehension

These issues are complicated and far too weighty
All you care is to be president before you are eighty

It makes sense at press conferences, why you get all hyper
I’d be irritated too if I shat in my diaper

Tomorrow we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, a human being like no other and for us Christians the son of God ..

Jesus Christ was an extraordinary man, a perfect individual for all to follow, that committed himself to his father’s teachings and died for them and for us …

Throughout the centuries, We as Christians misinterpreted his teachings at many times, worked against his will at many times and killed each others in his name …

In Lebanon, we are still doing that, what started as a Cause to defend Free Christianity turned into a bloody fight between brothers .. I just wish we can get back to this man, and try to do 1% of what he did … and i am not referring to the Church here, nor to praying every Sunday … let us put all those behind, and look up for that great person, for that great God ..

Two quotes sum up what i just said, two quotes that express my feelings on us Christians today:

“I like your Christ. I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ.” Ghandi

“In truth, there was only one Christian, and he died on the cross. ” Friedrich Nietzsche

A Christmas tree lighting ceremony was held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on Nov 26. According to Guinness World Records, the 82-meter-tall tree decorated with 2.8 million colorful bulbs is the biggest one in the world. [...]

Here is a nice video of it:

Cluster bombs left from the last July 2006 war btw Israel & Hezbollah are still killing innocent people till today.
For those unaware of what cluster bombs are, they are air-dropped or ground-launched munitions that eject a number of smaller bomblets.

Cluster bombs pose a particular threat to civilians for two reasons: they have a wide area of effect, and they have consistently left behind a large number of unexploded bomblets. The unexploded bomblets remain dangerous for decades after the end of a conflict.

Israel dropped thousands of cluster bombs during the war, and it is considered an act of terrorism. They are to blamed for those criminal acts and Lebanon has already submitted this case to the UN. However, Hezbollah has NO right whatsoever to accuse Israel or call it a terrorist or criminal.

While Israel is our ennemy and we all acknowledge that fact, what worries us most as Lebanese is the threat Hezbollah is posing by arming himself more and by initiating a war any time he likes. Added to that, Hezbollah is receiving millions if not billions of dollars in help to arm himself, therefore increasing the chances of starting a new war, which will eventually increase the number of cluster bombs we have.

Hezbollah responsibles go on TV and accuse Israel of criminal acts ??? Peak of hypocrisy ..

I ask the families of the cluster bombs victims the following:

1- How much money is HA spending to train teams and reveal those cluster bombs ??
2- How much HA protecting you from the threat of those cluster bombs ?
3- How do you defend Hezbollah when it spends most of its money on weapons and keeps u people poor and under threat ?

Finally, i ask those same families the next time they lose someone cause of a cluster bomb, to reconsider the ‘fida sermeyto lal sayyid 7assin’ argument and ask those terrorists representing them to form team and train them to remove the cluster bombs …

For those who are not familiar with the term, “sans gene” is a french term that refers to a person who cares less about how his actions affect the others, ya3ne bil derij bala zo2 ..

Such an attribute is not far from our politicians, in fact its a compliment when compared to their other “qualities” ..
The roads have been crowded for a week now, with Christmas approaching and Eid El Ad7a occuring this week, Beirut is getting so crowded one would rather stay at work than come back home ..

ABC mall in Achrafieh, Geant Mall and all the shopping centers and stores are getting incredibly crowded, YET Mr.Smart-ass (aka P.O Box) Nabih Berri decided to make the presidential session On Saturday, the most crowded day of the week …

Roads will be closed around Beirut, while the people will be rushing to get their gifts for Christmas …

We have become not only sheep to those rotten feudal leaders, but pure objects they dont give a damn about ..

What saddens me most is the attitude of the Lebanese people, nonchalant and passive .. We are being treated like trash yet are getting used to it instead of demanding for our rights :-)

This is how Berri wishes us Merry Xmas .. the least i would do to thank him is strangle him with a sugar xmas candy :-), but thats just me ..

French President Nicolas Sarkozy stated that he was “reaching the end of the road” with Syrian President Bashar Assad and demanded action from the Syrian leader. He gave Syria till Saturday as a last chance to get off Lebanon’s back.

US President George W. Bush on Thursday ruled out direct talks with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, saying his “patience ran out” on the Syrian leader “a long time ago.”

“So if he’s listening, he doesn’t need a phone call, he knows exactly what my position is,” Bush said at a year-end press conference, after being asked whether he would talk to Assad to work on ending Lebanon’s political crisis.

“My patience ran out on President Assad a long time ago, and the reason why is because he houses Hamas, he facilitates Hezbollah, suiciders go from his country into Iraq, and he destabilizes Lebanon,” said Bush.

How will these threats be materialized or are they just oral threats ?? Lets wait and see what happens in tomorrow’s session.

What is Eid Al Ad7a ?

Eid al-Adha is a religious festival celebrated by Muslims and Druze worldwide as a commemoration of Ibrahim’s (Abraham’s) willingness to sacrifice his son Ismael for Allah.

Here is a picture of Mount Arafat shown in Annahar today.

Why Dont Christians celebrate it ?

Apparently this is part of the Old testament which we dont refer to anymore, and the more important part is that we do celebrate it but in Id Al-Qiama or Easter. To Put it more simply, as Muslims sacrifice a sheep at Al-Adha, and the Jews sacrificed a sheep during Passover in Egypt, so God made Jesus Christ the perfect sacrifice for our sins.

Here is a quote from a useful site i found that sums it up:

Christians around the world celebrate the Adha and the Passover in one glorious celebration of the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ (known in English as “Easter” and in Arabic as “Id Al-Qiama.”) This is the Adha and Passover come true!
