I just posted about Hakim facing a new lawsuit and how he could avoid those accusations and lawsuits if he cleared those cases himself once and for all.

The next thing i read is another Geagea-Lahoud argument, Geagea attacks, Lahoud replies, then LF replies then Lahoud replies and so on ..

I ve had enough of those stupid and meaningless debates, why should we bother answering an asshole such as Lahoud ?? and the funny part is that everytime the LF reply is like 2 pages ..

Ignore him and clear the accusations in the courts wou khallasna ba2a ..

There are tons of chatrooms for such silly debates … no need to waste our time on it.

Since his release earlier last year, i always urged Hakim to reopen all the cases opened against him and clear them once and for all, for his own credibility and to gain the people’s trust once again.

The crimes he is accused of are the prime arguments for his political opponents, from Karami to Frangieh etc etc .. and the latest accusation, 7 years after their release, May el Khansaa who has apparently nothing to do except issue lawsuits againt Dr.Geagea, is accusing him of kidnapping Lebanese civilians based on their religious belonging back in 1987 and delivering them to Israeli in 1990.

I would have never defended Hakim if i knew he was 1% guilty of the crimes he was accused of, the man is innocent but MUST prove it juridically once and for all.

He was freed as a ‘guilty’ person, this is unacceptable for his status as a Christian leader.
The Syrians cannot control the justice anymore, we have a decent and respectful juridical body, i suggest you exploit this opportunity to get rid of all those accusations.

Once this is done, The Lf and Hakim wont need to answer Lahoud’s accusation and his clown Shlala’s Press releases, neither Frangieh or Karami etc etc ..

The UN investigation team still needs time and wont be done before Lahoud’s mandate is over.
This new report provided progress on several aspects, i havent read the report yet but read several articles from different papers.

Three motives were identified by Brammertz as being the prime ones behind Hariri’s assasination:

The political implications of the UN resolution 1559.
The Extension of Pr.Lahoud’s mandate.
The personal and political dynamics which existed between Hariri and other political parties and leaders in Lebanon, Syria, and other countries.

Brammertz said “all of these factors came together and were handled by Hariri, sometimes proactively, and sometimes in reaction to events around him.”

Lebanese police have busted a Syria-based terrorist network grouping operatives from three Arab nationalities on charges of carrying out the twin-bus bombings north of Beirut last month and planning further attacks, reliable sources told Naharnet Tuesday.

The sources, speaking on condition of anonymity, said six of the eight culprits have been arrested in Beirut and its surroundings, less than a month after carrying out the twin-bus bombings in the mountainous town of Ain Alaq northeast of Beirut, which resulted in killing three people and wounding more than 20.

The other two remain at large and are believed to be hiding at north Lebanon’s Nahr el-Bared Palestinian refugee camp, according to the sources.

The culprits hold Syrian and Saudi identification documents. Two of the held operatives are Palestinian refugees from the camp of Yarmouk near the Syrian capital of Damascus.

The bust, according to one source, also included confiscating a “large quantity of explosives” that were hidden in the Beirut apartment of Syrian suspect identified as Mustapha Siyor.

Members of the network, according to the source, infiltrated into Lebanon from Syria last November under the cover of the so-called “Fatah-Islam” group, which was set up by Syrian intelligence with the objective of carrying out terrorist attacks to destabilize Lebanon and block the ratification of the international tribunal which would try suspects in the 2005 assassination of ex-Premier Rafik Hariri and related crimes.

Lebanon has about 400,000 inhabitants, gathered into more than six hundred towns, villages and hamlets. 

The various religions and sects live together, and practice their conflicting superstitions in close proximity, but the people do not coalesce into one homogeneous community, nor do they regard each other with fraternal feelings. The Sunnites excommunicate the Shiites; both hate the Druse, and all three detest the Nusairiyeh. The Maronites have no particular love for anybody and, in turn, are disliked by all. 

The Greeks cannot endure the Greek Catholics - all despise the Jews. And the same remarks apply to the minor divisions of this land. There is no common bond of union. Society has no continuous strata underlying it, which can be opened and worked for the general benefit of all, but an endless number of dislocated fragments, faults, and dikes, by which the masses are tilted up in hopeless confusion, and lie at every conceivable angle of antagonism to each other. Placing a bomb in a chips.

Lebanese Internal Security Forces (ISF) said that they have thwarted an explosion attempt in the southern port city of Sidon, local media reported.

The suspect carrying the bomb in a potato chips bag was arrested at local time 8:00 p.m. (1800 GMT) on Sunday, the ISF said in a statement published by local newspapers on Monday.

The 200-gram TNT bomb, which was defused by an ISF expert, was set to explode at 9:30 p.m. (1930 GMT) on the same day, the statement added.

The Naharnet news website quoted police sources as saying the suspect was a Palestinian and identified him as Walid Moustafa.

It said Moustafa was arrested shortly after he left the Ein el- Hilweh Palestinian refugee camp near Sidon.

Meanwhile, the National News Agency said Monday that Lebanese troops found a mortar shell fastened to a rocket propelled grenade outside Ansariya School in the southern town of Nabatiyeh.

It said the army’s engineering unit safely dismantled the grenade.

The Lebanese authorities have seized large amounts of weapons and explosives in recent weeks.

I just cannot understand why is it so hard to have one General Christian meeting where all the Christian leaderships are present to discuss their differences and calm the situation on the ground.

Sunnites & Shiites who are not only separated by politics, but also by deep religious issues, had several meetings within the past few days to relaunch the negociations and apease the situation.

I am simply asking for one FPM-LF meeting, where we can talk honestly and face to face and stop the followers from cursing each others ..

We are the biggest losers if we stay divided, this is a fact not an asumption.

As i expected in an earlier post, the 11th of march was more of a food carnival whereas most of those who went down wanted to eat.

Everyone was supposed to shout “Lebanon is not to die”, but instead were shouting to get their shawarma sandwich.

I just dont get why would someone meet up with all politicians then organize a lunch in DT and pretend his movement has nothing to do with politics but wants dialogue and unity.

One guy commented when asked:

So that basically resumes it, the guy offers food for free, we will go and just eat, but anything politically related, he knows where we stand.

And he has every right to do so …

Again a member of the FPM list that speaks what the LF should be speaking, yesterday it was Khazen lecturing on Federalism and today Naamtallah Abi Nasr whom i also respect and admire for his positions.

“نحن أهل الحوار فلا يُزايدن أحد علينا، اما ان تتحول إرادة اللبنانيين لقيام الحوار الوطني الشامل مجرد مفاوضات ثنائية بين رئيس تيار “المستقبل” ورئيس حركة “أمل”، فمن حقنا ان نضع علامات استفهام حول أهداف هذا الحوار، وخلفياته، ونتائجه. ومهما صدقت نيات الطرفين تبقى في الشكل على الأقل، مدعاة استياء وتشكيك، لأنه لا يعقل ولا يجوز ان يختصر الحوار الوطني بطائفتين وان يغيب على وجه الخصوص ممثلو الطوائف المسيحية وفي مقدمها الطائفة المارونية وهي المؤسسة للبنان الوطن.

Why is Saad dialoguing with Berri to resolve our problems ??? What sort of strategic alliance is that ?? where are the Christian representatives from both sides ?? Hakim has already showed some worries but never asked why he isnt there .. Aoun is probably gardening right now while his Mps are doing all the job.

No Dialogue unless all communities are represented and most importantly the Christians.

The nature of the conflict btw the 14th and 8th of march teams started after the July war primarily between the Shiites and Sunnites, however it was turned into a Christian-Christian fight after the black Tuesday and nowadays i sense that Aoun & Geagea and the Christians in general are the problem for Hezbollah & Hariri and that any solution will require weakening one Christian side further.

The current government includes only 1 LF minister, while Aounists have none.
The LF will not accept having less ministers than Aoun in the ‘adjusted’ government and vice versa.

So both teams are increasing their speech levels and going to the extremes while Hariri and Berri are having dialogues.

Christians have put themselves in a losing position because of their behavior, mainly cause of Aoun’s behavior and his ‘agreement’ with Hezbollah that splitted the Christian community like no other agreement did.

Hakim has regained some of his popularity on the Christian level but the lack of initiatives and the few mistakes being done are keeping him on the same level as Aoun. I blame him for example for reaching low levels in some speeches, mainly when addressing Lahoud.

Al-Akhbar reported today that Geagea is uneased with the way discussions are going btw Hariri & Berri, i dont trust this paper a lot, but this says a lot about our position as Christians.

In Summary, i see it this way.
While Hariri,Jumblatt and Berri,Nasrallah are strenghening their positions, the Christian leaders are still divided and the Christian population is leaving.

The LF issued a PR congratulating the Army and ISF on their hard work and the capture of more illegal weapons.

I really dont understand those pretending the LF is getting armed, where are those weapons ?? Is the army with the LF? i highly doubt it ..

Merhi Abou Merhi is inviting everyone to lunch today in DT, in an attempt to revive the Down Town. He stated his aims are social and not political.

I thought this movement was a bit more serious than that, it is good to have people organize such events, but honestly i think this is a waste of time and simply a mediatic exposure for this businessman, unless this is only the start and he is waiting for solutions to be revealed to get into the political game ..

The FPM organized a lecture on Federalism led by MP.Farid el Khazen yesterday in Zouk Mikael.
The lecture was entitled : “Federalism in Lebanon, a solution or a problem ?”

I have one remark to the LF students body here and LF responsibles, isnt Federalism our project supposebly ??? yet not one single lecture or orientation was organized on this issue ..

Back to Dr.Khazen, a professor that i highly respect and had the opportunity to meet and talk with him on several occasions, i wish if he could elaborate further on two points he raised in his lecture.

“متوقفا عند “النظام الطائفي الذي هو فيديرالي غير جغرافي، واللامركزية الادارية الموسعة التي نص عليها اتفاق الطائف وهي غير النظام الفيديرالي، واصبحت موضوعاً حيوياً في الوضع السياسي اللبناني”.
ورأى ان “الحديث عن اي مشروع سياسي في لبنان بما في ذلك الفيديرالية امر مشروع في اطار الديموقراطية والحرية، وتعددية الاراء السياسية وليس هناك نظام سياسي بالفرض”.
ودعا الى “تنظيم السلطة السياسية في مجتمعات تعددية في اطار الحرية والديموقراطية ووحدة الدولة”، موضحا ان “تجربة العيش بين المسيحيين والمسلمين وبين المسلمين من طوائف مختلفة وبين المسيحيين هي فريدة ويجب المحافظة عليها في لبنان”

Decentralization as proposed in taef is not Federalism, however it IS the basis for a federal decentralized system in Lebanon. Secondly everyone wants to preserve the co-existence we have in Lebanon but on what price ?? Christians tried to do so in 1958, 1969, 1975, 1990 and all they got in return was more compromises and persecution on all levels.

Strong Christians is the only guarantee for this co-existence to stay.

I really cant understand the FPmers sometimes, you organize a lecture on Federalism led by a very respectful doctor who asks that Federalism be discussed and doesnt relate it to the Americans in anyway, and then get us an FPM responsible to say Federalism implies war in Lebanon ??
