Aoun

A scanned paper of the terms that aoun signed with the Syrians on the 12th of October 1990 is shown above.

The terms were as follows :

1- Ending the Blocus on Baabda
2- Accepting Hrawi as the legitimate president.
3- Demission of Hoss and Aoun government
4- Forming a new government
5- Dissolving the militias

It is to be noted that Aoun fled on the 13th of Octobre 1990 while his men were dying.

Strida Geagea

A peaceful sit in and calm demonstrations were organized in Bsharre region in protest of the lack of financing for the Bsharre government hospital and the lack of presence of an HR Room.

It should be noted that Ministers voted on 27th of January 2005 on allocating 1,300,000 million dollars to finance the Hospital and establish the needed room. That last victim of this neglicence was a 17 year young man called Charbel Kayrouz.

Mrs.Geagea lectured about this issue in Hotel Shabt and ended that we should preserve the New Independance we earned after the 14th of March.

everything could explode

Two posts published on the LF Blog during the war were chosen to be published in Michael J. Totten’s The Hezbollah war.

The first post was written by myself and entitled : Nasrallah …Fuck off

The 2nd post was written by Othello concerning Hezbollah Tactics.

This blog digest is one of a three series anthology entitled “Lebanon who won, who lost, who suffered”.

After postingabout Attacks on Hakim’s visit to Mufti Qabbani, it seems LF finally justified the visit through its representative Elie Keyrouz.

Even though i was hoping for an official reply from the party, Kayrouz’s answer was a good one.

One interesting fact about this visit is that neither Bashir Gemayel nor Elie Hobeika nor any LF previous leaders were able to visit the Mufti like Hakim did.
This visit was prepared closely by Hariri and sponsored by KSA.

Elie Keyrouz, in his interview with Addiyar, explains the the reconciliation between the Sunnite and Christian community have reached high levels and that the strategic alliance between the LF & FM is growing stronger by the day.

This visit to Mufti Qabbani did not just pop out of nowhere, but came after a series of ‘contraversial’ visits done by both sides, starting with Strida’s call to Late Matyr Rafic Hariri 2 months before his assasination, to Dr.Fatfat’s visit to Strida during elections, and finally during the 14th of February 2006 gathering where the LF & FM followers met to cheer for their leaders and confirm the strategic alliance.

As for the attacks on this visit, Keyrouz noted that Syria has always targetted the Dar el Ifta during the previous year and even founded the Ahbash group to try disrupt the Dar el Ifta role in the Sunnite community.
The attacks were nothing but an echo of the Syrian regime and are not worthy being replied to.

Finally, it should be note that Jumblatt today answered the attacks on Hakim’s visit through a PR published in AlBalad newspaper.

Earlier this year during a trip to Bsharee, i found a Hakim poster and it was written underneath it “Ahla bi Rabbak”, looks like someone got jealous and put another poster :
Hakim

Enjoy.

Now that Ramadan is over, the plot against the government is starting to take its shape.

Who are the teams behind this plot and what are their incentives? Is the government the prime target or the Resolution 1701 and the international court?

Lebanon and the 14th of march are facing a serious plot organized by the FPM and Hezbollah and Pro-Syrian groups and sponsored by Iran & Syria. Phase 1 of the plot started early this week by several attacks on the government and threats of demonstrating ‘peacefully’.

Of course there is nothing wrong with demonstrating peacefully, but when you are faced to an armed militia backed by Syrians who are grasping any opportunity to come back to Lebanon.
But enough with the theories, i monitored last week’s papers and saved the articles that were related to this topic.

Aoun has been attacking the government since months but now started talking about demonstrations on bridges and giving the government deadlines before taking actions.
“وقال: “نحن شعب حوار ولكننا نعرف أيضاً كيف نعبّر عن أنفسنا ومستعدون لـ”الكباش” بالطرق القانونية”. ( Quoted from AlBalad).

This hint about demonstrating came after Hezbollah threatened of demonstrating as well 2 days ago, but this time, and as revealed by Nasser El Ass3ad in Mustqabal newspaper , what both teams are planning is far from being a peaceful demonstration and could reach armed confrontations and Civil disobedience.

In fact, Hezbollah has been deploying all over Beirut and its surroundings in an attempt to trouble the security and therefore put the government in a weaker position since it cannot face the demonstrators with the army that is formed of a large percentage of shiites.

Hezbollah’s aim of creating chaos will certainly benefit him since he is in control of his region and is fully armed to protect himself and has Syrians backing him up.

Aoun’s aim is to get to presidency at any cost and i fear he is playing Hezbollah’s game without even realizing the consequences.

The other groups supporting this plot are purely Syrian puppets, doing the impossible to get Assad back to Lebanon, from El Hoss to Naja7 Wakim to Wi2am Wahhab etc etc ..

Dr.Geagea has warned of this plot earlier today as well as Hariri and Jumblatt, and all precautions are being taken to prevent this criminal plot against Lebanon.

The Cedars revolution must be preserved and all those threatening it severly punished. We have reached a point of no return with Hezbollah, Syrians & Iranians and i sincerely hope that all Lebanese be aware of this plot and its consequences.

Try it, its on Antelias highway.
A good Lebanese Kaak & Picon tastes so good.

- Population: 3,874,050 (July 2006 est.)

- Ethnic groups: Arab 95%, Armenian 4%, other 1%
note: many Christian Lebanese do not identify themselves as Arab but rather as descendents of the ancient Canaanites and prefer to be called Phoenicians

- Muslim 59.7% (Shi’a, Sunni, Druze, Isma’ilite, Alawite or Nusayri), Christian 39% (Maronite Catholic, Greek Orthodox, Melkite Catholic, Armenian Orthodox, Syrian Catholic, Armenian Catholic, Syrian Orthodox, Roman Catholic, Chaldean, Assyrian, Copt, Protestant), other 1.3%

CIA World Factbook 2006

Even though FPM managed to maintain their majority of seats in the USJ elections, 14th of march alliance led by the LF scored promising results which will reput in question the FPM dominance a year from now.

As reported in Annahar and in Mustaqbal as well, 14th of March Christians improved drastically from last year’s results but were unable of overtaking the FPM of course supported by his new allies ( Hezbollah, Marada etc …)

In fact LF won in the North 7-4, in Bekaa 3-0. Added to that, it won 6 out of 8 seats in the Law faculty, 5 seats in the Business faculty and Engeneering and all seats in technology faculty.

Michelle Tueni, Gebran’s daughter was supported by both FPM & LF and won.

LF students site reported that LF was victorious with more than 70% of Christian votes.

Regardless of the results, one thing is clear is that Aoun is losing ground but the LF is not delivering yet as it was expected to.

VIDEO

Israeli activists have uploaded a video of the shooting of Lymor and the initial violence of the Israeli military in Bil’in on Friday, August 11th.

The video clearly shows the Border Police unit firing on the demonstrators from close range. There is no evidence that the soldiers were in danger. Typically, the military spokesperson has claimed that “activists threw stones” and Haaretz’s article yesterday reiterating the same false information. The video also clearly shows the commander of the unit saying, “This is Lebanon!” as he orders his force to fire on retreating demonstrators, and “I will not allow a demonstration during wartime!”

The commander, Majdei, made this decision despite a military court decision in August 2005 that people in Bil’in have the right to protest on their land on the village-side of the apartheid wall. Every week since the wall was finished in March 2006, the Israeli military has also denied them the right to protest on their farmland on the other side of the wall. The wall separates villagers from 60% of their farmland, half of which has already been annexed and developed by Jewish settlements.

In addition many villagers have been arrested in the night during army raids for participating in the demonstrations in Bil’in. Two villagers are still in prison: Esaam Matar, 29, has been imprisoned eight months and the military has ruled he is to be deported to Jordan; and Muhammad Burnat, 19, has been imprisoned for 3 months and has not yet had a trial for his alleged crimes.

According to official military regulations, which were reported in the Hebrew version of Haaretz today, soldiers are not allowed to fire from a distance closer than 40 meters. They are instructed not to fire at vital areas of the body and only to fire when they are in immediate danger. Each week during demonstrations in Bil’in, many non-violent demonstrators are injured in the head, neck and chest.

The Israeli who was shot in the head and a Danish woman beaten with a gun on Friday are the most serious injuries the army has caused since Ramzi Yassin, who was shot in the head with a plastic-coated steel bullet. Ramzi, from Bil’in, was handing out ****r during a demonstration in Bil’in on July 8th 2005, when he was shot in the side of the head. The bullet caused severe bleeding of his brain and he was left unconscious for 7 days and with permanent brain damage. Haitham al Khateeb of Bil’in, Yonathan Pollack, an Israeli, BJ from Denmark, and Phil of Austrailia were hospitalized at different times all for rubber bullets injuries to their heads at close range at Bil’in demonstrations, except for Haitham who was hit by a tear gas canister fired at his head.

Lymor, who was shot on Friday, is currently in a stable condition at Tel Hashomer hospital in Tel Aviv. It took the ambulances about an hour to get from the site where he was shot to the hospital. He was taken in for immediate surgery which took 3 hours, and a rubber bullet as well as shards of bone and damaged brain tissue were removed from his head and an internal heomorage was stopped. Before the surgery he was totally clear and aware even though he was in a lot of pain. After the surgery he was moving his arms and legs while he was under sedation. He was taken off sedation around 7pm yesterday evening. He can move his limbs and can talk but is having trouble with his vision.

Rina, from Denmark, is also currently in the hospital in Hebron, suffering from severe concussion caused by an Israeli soldier beating her with his gun. She is stable, but is still having trouble walking on her own

“We can visit Qabani and it is secure. But meeting rice twice we missed it because of security reasons !!!”

Jumblatt is going to visit the US and be heard by US highest officials concerning Middle East issues, and we cant make it to a meeting with Rice in Lebanon for security reasons !!

The story is few days late, but i didnt have time to publish it.
Hakim’s visit to Mufti Qabbani triggered several angry reactions within the Muslim community, specifically from extremist parties and groups, yet our “strategic” allies didnt bother defend the visit neither did the LF bother reply to those attacks.

It is unprofessional to keep silent of such insults being directed to Hakim and i hold the LF media team whomever is charge of it responsible for this neglicence.

Hakim is called a murderer and accused of committing massacres and no one replies back?

and

They accuse Hakim of the murder of Rashid Karame And we stay silent ?
Sabra wou Chattilla ?
Black Saturday ?

I dont understand.

Zahi el Boustani died few days ago, he was in his early 60s. He was fighting with cancer for years now before he got really sick almost two weeks ago and passed away.

For those who dont know, Zahi el Boustani was head of the general surety back in the mid 80s, and was Bashir Gemayel’s close friend.

Zahi was one of the four government officials that supported Bashir gemayel’s ascendancy to presidency and Bashir thanked him first after the elections were done.

The man lost his daughter during an unfortunate accident few years ago in the Lycee school when the wall of the playground fell.

The man had so many secrets, yet never revealed any and refused to give any testimony.

You can read an overview on Zahi’s life in this article posted by Elie El Hajj.

After i gave a brief overview on PartI, i will tackle now the reasons of those inner divisions among Christians.

Those divisions have created several political lines that are very similar in terms of strategic goals but that differ in the persons leading those lines. For example, apart from SSNP, Communist party that attracted very small minorities of Christians, all other Christian parties had pretty much the same goals, yet never worked together for those goals.

Why is that ?
Because Christians became blind followers of feudal or war lords and were too busy fighting each others defending their leaders instead of looking at the overall image and realizing they were harming Christians and their own principles by initiating by behaving this way.

Kataeb & Ahrar fights were countless back in the 1970s, and eventually resulted in a sort of “annihilation” war that Bashir led in the 1980 to unite the militias, a harmful but in my belief necessary war to make it clear to Christians that we will not tolerate childish behavior within our community threatening our security.

Bashir was among the few that did not restrict himself to Kataeb or LF but was capable of taking the Christians Cause from the militia to presidency, and from Lebanon to the whole world.
This is a separate issue anyway that i might developed in later posts.

Back to our main issue, what caused the formation of several parties was the political unawareness among Christians and the lack of communitarian thinking. They get fooled by empty slogans and sacrifice themselves for leaders they never met or talked to, instead of following their principles and judging the politicians and voting for the proper one on that basis.

In the last elections, Christians were politically ‘retarded’ to vote for Aoun again, and those who voted were not only Aounists, which makes things worse.
Imagine a criminal is jailed for 15 years for killing a whole family, then he goes out of prison and wants to become a deputy to fight against crimes, the least you can do is think twice before voting, not give him the majority of ur votes !!

But as i said, it shouldnt be about the person, even Samir Geagea whom i respect is not doing his duties properly as a Christian leader, and i will not vote for him if he doesnt have an organized plan for us Christians in Lebanon, BUT that doesnt mean i should vote for Aoun.

In conclusion, many sides should be blamed for this unawareness in our society, i blame the people first for not doing their homework properly before voting their representatives, the Christian leaders for not educating their followers properly and forming an elite group within the community, and i blame Bkerke as well for not having a clear political strategic line for the Christian Lebanese.

I will develop the reasons for which i blame those parties in the third part.

Regards,

Rumors have been circulating that a Lebanese multi-billionaire named Elie Youssef Najm has volunteered to help Lebanon by donating more than 15 billion dollars and getting Air Fighters to the Lebanese Army.

This Lord claims to be married to a Malaysian Princess ( daughter of Prince Farid Bin Abdullah) and claims he is the 30th richest person in the world, even though forbes list does not include him on its list.

Massira Magazine investigated the issue and visited some of his friends in Batroun, all were surprised of the amounts of money Elie was donating and said its all a lie.

This ‘Lord’ promised to visit Lebanon very soon with 2 Air Fighters with the Cedars logo on them to offer them to the Government if it accepted of course.

We ll just have to wait and see, but i think he’s an imposter.

Unesco witnessed yesterday the celebration of “Qods Day” organized by Hezbollah.
It was a gathering attended by all Pro-Syrian & Palestinian organizations headed by the terrorist milita Hezbollah.

Hezbollah deputy Mhammad Raad focused on attacking the govermnent and undermining Lebanon’s sovereignty and independance. “The Americans have (President) Hamid Karzai in Afghanistan, and Fouad Saniora in Lebanon.”

Then he came back to mention the tears Sanioura shed during the Arab foreign ministers meeting in Lebanon ” Hezbollah will wait and see the diplomatic tears (shed) on friendly states in order to acquire Shabaa Farms “

It is to be noted that Sanioura was threatened by Hezbollah before that meeting, it was a very serious assasination threat which made him stressful and caused him to shed some tears. A terrorist so-called Lebanese party threatening the Lebanese PM.

Back to Hezbollah’s non Lebanese strategic plans, i quote from Salim el Hoss speech, a Pro-Syrian Sunnite trying desperatly to replace Sanioura by kissing all Pro-Syrian parties asses, not to forget he visited Syria last week.

They want us to liberate Palestine, our Cause is the Lebanese one and as Sheikh Bashir once said: Lebanon comes first, and after Hariri’s assasination, a large group of Muslim Lebanese vowed to defend Lebanon’s cause first, i repeat that we dont want to be part of a regional conflict that only caused us destruction and martyrs and the immigration of our youth.

Leave us alone and go liberate Palestine from Palestine if you are that commited to it.

After a whole speech based on non-Lebanese strategies, Qassem throws a big lie at the end of the speech. We are ok with Syrians and Palestinians and Iranians in Lebanon but UNIFIL violates our sovereignty … Can anyone explain to me how did he come up with some a conclusion ???

National Unity

We are honestly more than lucky to have a competent person such as Antoine Kheir heading the juridical body in the country. From what i know and head, he is a clean, honest and competent person who never bowed to the Syrian hegemony or to any bribes.

The latest reforms done were exceptional and were meant to replace the juridical body on the right track by removing all the bad apples from this institution. But of course we needed Lahoud’s signature to go on with the new appointments and he didnt sign because his ‘men’ were removed from their spots.

Elias El Murr stupidly refutes the appointments the first day saying Maronites were not well represented which is totally untrue but then returned from his position 2 days later.

Patriarch Sfeir supported the new appointments as well as Hussein el Husseini as i was reading in Annahar today and the Ketle party 2 days ago also asked the president to sign the list of appointments ( knowing that Kheir is close to the Ketle).

This step is a crucial one in putting the country back on the right track since the justice is one of the most essential bodies of the country, if not the most essential.

As Sheikh Pierre used to emphasize and the army and juridical body MUST not be abused or weakened by anyone.

From Naharnet

“As-Safir also said that the participants in the extraordinary meeting of the Central Security Council have “exchanged information on the three incidents and the suspicious sides, including al-Qaida and some groups and parties supportive to Syria and others linked to Israel, but they had nothing solid yet.”

I believe those are simply fanatic islamist groups causing trouble in the Hariri regions during Ramadan. The nights were almost all closed in Beirut during Ramadan except the Buddha bar as i heard from some people, which sort of justifies the attack.

But regardless of the reasons behind those attacks, we are witnessing a serious growth of those fanatic groups in Lebanon which is very worrying, too bad we have ignorants still pointing at Israel while the threat is clearly coming from Iraqi and Syrian terrorist organizations.

“The paper said acting Interior Minister Ahmad Fatfat, who presided over the meeting, has raised the possibility during the latest cabinet session that extremist sides could be behind the downtown assault. “

We want names and people in jail Mr.Fatfat, the people wants to be reassured you are indeed catching the bad guys. I was in Beirut tonight and i havent seen Beirut that empty on A Friday night for a long time.

It is sad to say the least.
